Burnley

That's the beauty of football Block, we all have opinions & ours are the ones that we see as right, I'm no different to that

I would rather see more of Burnley, Sheff Utd, Brighton buying players & competing well in a league they shouldn't really be, if you go off the media coverage alone, & teams who I can associate with my club
More than the bigger clubs who will buy 2, 3 teams for millions to try & win something, most lucky to stand still, West Ham, Newcastle to name two, for me that's not football & a reason I have zero interest in the PL but cast an envious eye & total respect towards Burnley model

I enjoy Watching Sheffield United and Brighton and hope they both stay up. Play some brilliant stuff especially Brighton, sheff U haven’t got going yet. Would much prefer them to stay up , both top managers aswell. Dyche and Burnley I’m sorry but I will never take to him or that club. Can’t stand Burnley the way I can’t stand Derby

Here’s my two penn’orth on Dyche and Burnley. Whilst I can not stand the man, I do admire what he has done on a shoestring compared to his compatriots. I think it is all part of building the aura around the club for the fans, keeping expectations managed, a sort of siege mentality for the team, its fans, the community spirit etc. Little old hard done to Burnley holding their own, punching above their weight against the big boys, upsetting the apple cart with a brand of football nobody appreciates or understands south of Accrington.

In some ways, it takes me back to my early days as a fan of the game. He has built a style of play that the big boys don’t like and every so often occasionally come unstuck, a bit like Man City did in the F.A. Cup in 2015 against some lesser club or other. Their results have belied their squad capability, on paper, year on year of late. I agree they are not a pretty watch, a bit like Boro under Pulis, but they were effective and might yet be. Their team spirit is greater than the sum of their parts. I have predicted relegation just about every year, but they keep defying the odds. Time will catch up with them, for sure, and, as I say, I am no fan of Dyche, Burnley or the way they play, but I take my hat off to their seasonal achievements of late, and Dyche has created the spirit and workrate that the players and fans buy into.

He certainly has. They're not the club they were back in the 50's and 60's and will never have a big following.

They've done well to do what they have so far.
I am trying to think of a Burnley player on my bedroom wall from Shoot, I can see lots of Claret but they were West Ham. For some reason I can think of 4 from Coventry.

I did have respect towards the Burnley model but where has all the money gone? They've been in the PL since 2016- in 4 years they have had £500m or there abouts in prize money. They've spent nothing on the ground, spent £4.6m on a new training ground and although are paying a wage bill of around £45m a year and around £120m on transfers. They have had a model previously being frugal which is to be applauded but if I were a Burnley fan I'd be hugely frustrated with the lack of signings and activity.

I was just about to say Martin Dobson! What a player he was.

Always remember Trevor Steven killing us in that 4-1 home defeat in the dark days, 83/84. Lawsy played too.
I seen Laway that day & he stood out, I was over joyed when we were later signed Brian Laws, who actually signed shares the same birthday as me 👍🎂

I think we had this discussion recently about Burnley. I kind of bracket them as a team similar to ourselves. Fervent support, true local Club who struggle to attract players to them.

Their story throughout the close season was failing to bring players in and this despite being able to offer more. I don’t dislike the Club - like him or loathe him Dyche has as Erimus says done an incredible job keeping Burnley in the Prem whilst the Club has made a consistent profit season after season. Compare this to Bournemouth who made losses every season they were in the PL and bought big money signings and now back in the Championship. Financially there future depends on their Russian owner

Does anyone remember the magazine 'Scoop'?! They had Jim Stark who was a rebel and signed weekly for any club that wanted a maverick! Sheer class!

Yes. Dont think it lasted very long and it merged with the Victor comic on its demise in 1982.

Another magazine was published under the same name shortly after but was totally not football related.
