Britt Misses Empty Goal From 2 Yards

I think Fletcher is still a 'work in progress'.
Suppose not his fault that we paid the 'finished article' price of £6.5m.
Personally I've never seen a player look more uncomfortable or unconfident on a boro pitch.
Certainly never felt so uncomfortable watching the boro since 1980.
Also find it quite unfathomable that we didn't 'scout' him in the flesh.
But then again, I have no idea who his agent is or his agent's link to Gary Monk.
But I'm no hater and truly wish him well.
It just looks like he might have perhaps made himself into a half decent player before he leaves us on a free.

That's exactly what I'm saying. He'd've scored on instinct alone, hence the 'eyes closed' comment.
Yes, of course, Bernie never, ever, missed a chance.

But if he had, people would have said something like, 'Camsell/Clough/Peacock wouldn't have missed a chance like that'.

And everyone would have nodded their heads and chuckled.

Im no hater of any Boro player - including Britt - just want them all to do well, as that makes Boro do better
I think Fletcher was poor for 2 years, but better last year.
Thought he started this league season poorly before his injury
Akpom started well, but has faded - he was anonymous today

Imagine the woe Bernie must be feeling when inflation apart he understands that Britt earns in about a fortnight what Bernie earned in a Year .

ps most of Bernies wages will of been on bonuses which you have to score bloody goals to get !

Not exactly a great achievement

Almost 25 million spent on those three strikers, and not one of them is good enough for this level

Like Johnson, Bola and Dijksteel weren’t good enough for this level?

Akpom has been here a few months so needs time to settle in. From the limited time we have seen of him, he can hold the ball up, lay it off and also passes to players who are in a better position. He has also scored two goals from open play. He should be first choice until Fletcher is back or, hopefully we get somebody in January.

Don't really see what posts like this are getting at? I'd guess neither of you actually rate Assombalonga so what is it you're saying?

Comparisons with Bola and Dijksteel are crackers. They're young guys who were stepping up a league last year, and playing for a rookie manager. Assomba should be in his prime, hes played at this level for 5 or 6 years now and he's got the best manager in the division instructing him. If he still isn't really performing, when will he?

Assombalonga's woeful form just makes the decision by the club to withdraw from pursuing Keifer Moore on the grounds of being "too expensive" even more fustrating.
Would his transfer fee and wages be that much more than the loan package we're currently shelling out for Patrick Roberts?
