Britt & Akpom aren't the problem, stop blaming them.

He shouldn't be blamed for the 3, but he should be blamed for the 0. 16 goals in 17 games is woeful.
We didn't really create much last night, it was awful approach play, britt is the whipping boy for some on this board.

Something needs to change, clearly, but I wouldn't be starting with the strikers to be honest. More has to come from the approach play, we need to create more than a couple of half chances per game and we need to get support to the front man whoever is playing.

A limited squad has played a lot of football and it is doubtless effecting their energy levels.

Looking dispassionately at the table it is congested because all the teams are struggling to put a run of wins together, not just us.

Hopefully Neil is seeing that Britt & Akpom are exactly the problem based on this quote....

"Marvin couldn't have done any more tonight, I thought he put 10 good crosses in and we've got to score from them.

Warnock is picking out the one decent performance from last night. In no way shape or form will you win a game of football if only 1 player performs at their best. Its elite sport not a kick about. If we are making chances, 10 last night from one player alone, why is no one scoring? Wheres the midfield contribution to the goals?

To use that warnock quote in the way you have is nonsense.

Don't get me wrong the strikers have to do more, but so do the rest of the team.

Give over man.
We have 2 strikers who have 4 goals between them this season in 17 matches, one of them a penalty.
Only 8 teams have scored fewer goals than we have.
19 players have scored more each than they have between them.
Watmore scored as many in an hour of one match than they have scored all season.

We are not a great squad, we have limitations, but only 2 teams in the league have conceded fewer goals.
We do create chances. Our midfield don't take them, but our "strikers" are simply inept.
"Britt" has been a catastrophic buy.
Can't play, can't score, won't try.

We wont have anything like the best defence in the league if the back line continue to play as badly as they did last night.

I aint saying Britt is good, I am saying he has not been the problem in the last couple of matches the defence has. The midfield don't chip in with enough goals which would happen if Johnson was really putting 10 chances on a plate every game.

If you concede 3 goals to PNE you shouldn't be pointing the finger at the strikers first.

It's funny 2 mins in to the game last night to my lad (who incidentally plays as a striker for a none league club step 2) when the last time you saw Britt play well or look like a threat in a game, his response was 'never'. We then sat an analised everything he did in the game, difficult with just one camera, as he wasn't always in sight. Hold up play - none existent, pressing - lazy, movement - pretty much none existent. My lad highlighted that the vast majority of our low crosses were cut out by the first man at the near post, not once did Britt make a movement to go across the front of the first man, he probably won't not score from it as it's a difficult finishes but he can change the direction of travel of the ball, and also his movement will pull the first man and the line behind him closer to goal allowing space for midfielders coming on the ball. It's a basic movement of any striker. All in all we agreed Britt brings nothing to the team, we were surpised he even came out for the second half.
Personally I'd move him on in January, sure he it of contract in the summer, let him go on a free and get his wage off the books.

"not once did Britt make a movement to go across the front of the first man"

exactly this ! Those in any way defending Britt have simply never played football beyond a kickabout.

That’s my point his movement and anticipation is shocking unless it’s the perfect ball to feet in space he’s lost.

That’s without getting in to his one on one ratio.

Movement from the front man equals space for midfielders to run into.
No movement from the front man equals an easy life for defenders.

And by the way, Marvin's a midfielder and our top scorer.

Having said that, Saville was shocking and never got out of first gear.

OK OK I give, let's aget a striker in. It won't solve our problems, we will "buy another duff un'" or maybe we just don't have the balance of the team right and are not making the most of whats at our disposal.

Wishing for horses doesn't mean we are all galloping to work tomorrow.

The reality is, for a number of years now we have had strikers that have failed to deliver. That is not a coincidence.

But OK it's all Britts fault.

We had a cracking striker in Bamford who ticked ALL the boxes. That decision to sell gets crazier by the week!
You say that Michael but in his second spell he scored one goal in 4 for us. Worse than britt. In paddys first spell he scored 1 in 2 for us, but then for forest so did britt.

I think its largely the way we are set up, the problem has existed for some time and has effected several strikers.

Yeah, but his all round game was good. He brought others into play, was a nuisance for defenders etc. He wasn't Gerd Muller by any means but he was a very good player and a ridiculous decision to sell him.

I don't disagree by the way just showing that for a long time we have found goals hard to come by whoever has played for us.

Good strikers don’t just have to be in the right place at the right time, they also have the ability to create their own chances, these guys do neither.
