Boxing Day ashes 3 rd test at the MCG starts at 11pm

And nothing to draw on. Nobody looking remotely promising.
Too much crash bang wallop cricket.

If Crawley was the answer, you’ve got to really wonder what the question was.
The question for me is how on earth do we find some Test batsmen?

The white ball focus has clearly had a big impact on Test cricket but why the hell can’t we do both?

The best teams in the world can, we like to think we are up there with them so why can’t we?

We have plenty of batsmen who play a longer form of cricket at County level, why are they not being developed?

Just saying it’s because of white ball cricket is letting people off the hook.

Those who are in the most senior positions have a responsibility to put this right.

Because county cricket is not seen as a priority as it generates no real income so it is pushed out to the start of spring and the end of summer to accommodate white ball cricket in June/July /August

That's why in county cricket bog standard medium pacers look like world beaters and batsmen and spin bowlers aren't developed. It's why someone like 45 year old Darren Stevens is still playing and taking wickets/scoring runs.

Crawley, Pope, Lawrence, Hameed should all be establishing themselves now yet they'd struggle to get in any other test teams side.

Embarrassing- totally embarrassing. The best solution would be a COVID outbreak to see the rest of the series cancelled. In fairness I shouldn’t wish this condition on anyone

Growing up, listening to the Ashes tour in bed on the radio, while drifting off to sleep was an absolute highlight of Xmas.

Barely watched a ball of this series.

Thank god they’ve managed to get rid of the “Punter, Gilly, Junior, Warney” commentary dream team.

was like being back in a sixth form common room

Lord Gower is a breath of fresh air

To be fair to the players, especially the batsman the preparation has not been the normal tour matches etc. I've only heard a couple of people mention this fact. Mark Taylor and David Gower eluded to this just before Stokes got bowled about his red ball cricket and lack of. It's a sorry state of affairs, but it is what it is, and our boys were and are onto a hiding to nothing from the get go.
