What what ?What?
Looks a fairly simple to understand statement to me
What what ?What?
Except it wasn’t the same gesture and it wasn’t racist. Why do we need to know if the recipient of the gesture is black before we can say that the gesture is racist?
The monkey armpits action is racist whatever the judge thought of Ernest Goult's defence.
It was racist in my opinion and to me that is the only opinion that matters.Except it wasn’t the same gesture and it wasn’t racist.
He was cleared as was stated earlier on the thread.
Totally agree. I had a fantastic day at Leicester yesterday, surprise wins are the best and thought the support for the lads was one of the best I’ve been in for a while. This somewhat tarnishes it. Btw as soon as we started singing that song about Mrs Vardy I knew he would score. What a shame that such a great result has been marred by a so-called fan's display of bigotry. Get her banned for life.
That's a strange stance to take and one that many would think is wrong. It was racist in my opinion and to me that is the only opinion that matters.
I'm aware that he was cleared by the judge, more fool him.
Right, understood. Apologies. And apologies to you @Yearbyred.That's a strange stance to take and one that many would think is wrong.
I come from a mixed race background and in the past have copied the gesture that Ernest Goult made. It had a totally different meaning which was explained earlier and certainly wasn't racist. How tapping your opposite hand under your armpit can be deemed racist is beyond me.
I'm not saying they do and I know it's not their fault. The point I'm making is with parents like that is there any wonder some kids make poor decisions in life.I dont think the kids deserve castigating its really not their fault at all. I would hope some positive role model and education would encourage the kids to think for themselves and break the chain of racism
Surely its a hate crime and police mater as well
Just seen this version and she clearly follows up with "want a banana?" and mimmicks an eating action.
The club really have to ensure she is banned and publicly do so.
Yeah it's a bit like saying it was ok for me to do a Nazi salute and shout seig heil because the person I was directing it to wasn't Jewish.
That's probably an extreme example but the point is there are certain actions especially when combined with aggravating words which are completely unacceptable in any circumstances regardless of the recipient.
That’s not to say they are right.I think more people agree with @speckyget and @Caesium137 on this
a wave can be perceived as a ‘Nazi salute’Yeah, I did think about it being used in the context of a fictional character etc.
I should have added the caveat, whenever it's used abusively it's unacceptable regardless of the context.
Yes, it does need investigating.Statement From The Club

What are you wittering on about nowa wave can be perceived as a ‘Nazi salute’
Cast your memory back to the ‘three points’ chant.. someone ignorant fool failing to look at all the facts chose to perceive that as ‘zeig hail’ - all boro fans got tarred with that accusation btw
THIS situation if it is found to be a racist incident.. forgive me for wanting an official investigation btw.. but if it is found to be so.. then all boro fans will be tarred with the very same.
