Boro fan recorded making racist gesture at Leicester

What are you wittering on about now

That person was Chelsea fan btw was the vile mellor who knew exactly that he was doing.

You still not convinced then ?
It’s not my place to be convinced.. I will wait for the out one of official investigation.

I have highlighted many times on here our blind spot on racism and stated on numerous occasions how and why we need to be visible in our anti racist stance.

This thread has shown up some absolute morons.. insinuating sone sort of violent response to a female? calling for children to be banned for life.. and making out that I myself are downplaying racism.. oh yes AND a fan that was found NOT to be racist by a court of law has been deemed to be racist now.. just because.. it’s their opinion and that’s all that counts.

Same old same old.. racism at its very core is ignorance and we have this in bundles on this board. Well meaning idiots who do not offer ANYTHING positive or constructive in any way shape or form. Embarrassing.

It shocks me that people are both sick enough and stupid enough to act this way, especially when you consider that there are always fans at games filming with their mobile phones.

She was a season ticket holder and was there wearing her Boro scarf. She'll now never attend another Boro game, will more than likely lose her job, and may face a criminal conviction.

Was it really worth it?

I think you’re reading too much into this as I suspect the club will see what we’ve seen and ban her forthwith no need to investigate anything.

I’m guessing she’ll be named and shamed within the next 24 hours.

I don’t think you’re going to get this surgical breakdowns of what the intention was as you allude to

Sorry Newwy that is nonsense. No one is calling for a "violent response" the closest I could find was someone calling for her to repeat the insult to their face. No one calls for a child to be banned for life. And no one says that you are downplaying racism. I find your stance on this puzzling.

The actions of the person captured in the video are unambiguously racist. Not sure if the kids are with her or not but they seem to be mimicking her and joining in. I support what ever actions the club feels are appropriate for someone who has brought our club into disrepute and that would include criminal prosecution if the police feel it is warranted.

I'm sure by now she is aware that she has been caught on camera and she would be best advised to contact the club, identify herself and try to explain her actions, apologise properly without attempting mitigation and accept the punishment that she is due.

Apparently according to X the person has been named and their st number passed on to the club.

The clubs statement speaks volumes

We have a zero-tolerance approach towards racism and all forms of discriminatory behaviour and will take the strongest action possible.

Our club is an inclusive football club where everyone should feel safe and welcome.

She’s toast

a wave can be perceived as a ‘Nazi salute’

Cast your memory back to the ‘three points’ chant.. someone ignorant fool failing to look at all the facts chose to perceive that as ‘zeig hail’ - all boro fans got tarred with that accusation btw

THIS situation if it is found to be a racist incident.. forgive me for wanting an official investigation btw.. but if it is found to be so.. then all boro fans will be tarred with the very same.
That ignorant fool was David Mellor and he was quickly put right by Vic and Bob on 606

and what does that insinuate to you?
pretty sure someone is calling for the kids to be banned too.. f-off and shhhhhh - they do not mimic the woman.. they don’t call the person a fat basterd nor do they say someone is a monkey or make any monkey gestures.

This is properly serious and should be treated as such.. folks should be careful not to make unfounded accusations.

Whoever it is should indeed contact the club and explain the situation fully.. I hope the situation is quickly attended do and the appropriate actions are carried out.

As you're taking a different line with so many it's not to say you are either
No.. my line does not involve being judge, jury and executioner.. nor does it extend to insinuation of violence or involve the children.

The folks on here screaming for consequences will have no involvement in the outcome. The issue will be investigated and treated accordingly.

No it won’t the club statement all but says that..

We have a zero-tolerance approach towards racism

There is no justification.

The club statement states the obvious.. if the alleged racist incident is found to be a racist incident then the club will take the appropriate action.

Does it say anywhere that the club will consult Jedi Boro snd Roofie of FMTTM and take action based on their opinion?

No.

and what does that insinuate to you?
It simply insinuates that it is one thing to shout an insult at someone at a football match and another to repeat it to someone's face. It's a societal thing.
The folks on here screaming for consequences will have no involvement in the outcome.
Well der. We have no involvement in recruitment of players it doesn't stop people making up fantasist recruitment targets.

It is a football forum in which we discuss events surrounding Middlesbrough Football Club, among many other things, very few of those things will any one of us be involved in the outcome and if they were I would not expect them to discuss it on here.

Ok I assume when she is named shamed and banned you’ll come back then and rightly condemn them and their actions.

Btw I still have no idea where thr so called doubt is.

It read completely different.. BAN HIM!! lol

and do they ever lead to criminal charges? do they effect people’s lives?

Interesting.. because a discussion can normally allow for different points of views and perspective.

Something which is not taken kindly to on here..

I don’t need to.

and the doubt would be if she didn’t make a racist gesture.

Yes, that is something that gets discussed. As I explained if we were "the judge, the jury or the executioner" I would not expect to be part of a discussion.

If you join a discussion you should expect that someone may/will take the opposite view to you. No one is stopping you stating your opinion which you have done at length. I have pointed out where I disagree with your position and where you were factually inaccurate. That is part of a discussion. If you expected everyone to simply nod at your sage declamation you erred.

I haven’t read all of the comments on here but wasn’t there a bloke at a home game do something similar (gesture wise) to a Blackburn player i think, and he said the gesture was to insinuate someone was “the pits” hence the arm pit gesture - I can’t remember the outcome of that particular case though. Anyway gesturing at people in a football ground is a stupid thing to do - don’t do it !
