Boris to tell over 50s to lockdown..

Guessing you are retired and already have your nice cushy nest egg?

Those who are vunerable should of course continue to shield. But why should everybody be punished with house arrest yet again?

I for one will personally be ignoring it, it affected my kids, it affected my mental and physical health. Arrest me. I'll have my day in court.

Spoiler - I'll win in court too.
I generally respect your views Randy but attitiludes like this are exactly why the virus is making a comeback and why another lockdown is more likely.

How long are people going to put up with this bull****?
If this country brings in another lockdown I beg of you all to ignore it.

As Mrs. Foggy is still recovering from an illness that very nearly killed her and and I am also high risk being diabetic, no I will not be ignoring it.

As a close friend of ours died from it, in hospital and without her family with her, no I will not be ignoring it.

And as my cousin, a very fit, slim, healthy man with a very healthy lifestyle, is still debilitated with it four months after getting it, no I will not be ignoring it.

You can beg me all you fecking like.

It’s irresponsible attitudes like this which have resulted in spikes and therefore further restrictions.

Look at your previous post, thats one of the reasons this wont go away. If people would be sensible this would be over so much quicker. Selfishness and stupidity is why we will continue to live like this for a long time yet
I've followed every bit of guidance that the government have put out so try again with the baseless accusations fella.
I wear a mask to work and to visit the little corner shop. Other shopping items are delivered to my home so I'm not making any needless trips to the shops. I haven't seen any of my mates in the flesh except the ones I work with since March. Whenever my parents have wanted to see my kids they have been allowed.
Everything is hunky dory round my way, people follow the guidance.

Look at the built up areas and those areas with a high BAME population for your spikes.

Well until we get a vaccine or it wears itself out, we're gonna be in trouble for a LONG time as people won't be sensible. We have crammed beaches, parks, pubs; illegal raves, house parties, people nose to nose practically inside supermarkets. My neighbours have ignored the rules from day one and will continue to do so whatever happens. I would call the police but I'm not sure we even have a police force any more. Certainly don't see em any more.

I’ve mentioned on another thread, and yes it relates to Spain but the age profile for new spikes of infections is in the 25 - 45 range - younger people ignoring the request to socially distance, wear masks, and avoid crowds because “they know best” or “it’s not going away so bllx to it”..... and those infected then mix with older and more vulnerable people.

It’s not all about you

You just can't police it. We don't have the numbers and do the police have the authority (what's legal and what's not) or the will to move people on, police beaches, parks, private garden parties, illegal raves, overcrowding in pubs, large groups of blokes hanging around?

And if it's the young uns causing the spike, it's tough on us older ones then who've been doing the right thing all along and are gonna be locked down again whilst the 20+ age group keep on doing their thing.

Just to follow on from Spain. I have a mate in Cyprus and he has posted the Government ruling on 'Masks WILL be worn after Midnight, no excuses, caught without, it's a 200 Euro fine' no if's or buts. And that is how it should be. We are so far behind with our limitations and laws.

Making it mandatory to wear 3 layer masks outside would cut infections by a large margin. Other countries were doing it months ago we only really started a week a go! Older people are not stupid in general they do things to limit risks, like not going to raves, washing hands several times a day.

A lot of deaths have been in care homes or connected in some way to care homes, when the older person is typically over 80 and their safety is more dependent on others. Although I admit many people over 50 have been hospitalised like Boris.

What's happened to track and trace, if new infections are around 700 a day and were have 5,000? government paid tracers, surely we must be murdering the virus. If people are not co-operating in a reasonable way I would make it a criminal offence as they are seriously endangering the lives of other thousands of other people, like drink drivers.

But again, how do you police it? My neighbours on both sides open flouted the rules daily as did others in the area. Times that by God knows how many hundreds of thousands and call the police or community support. Are they gonna go to every house? Are they going to arrest people?

Sadly leaving it to individuals to police themselves only works if you have the capacity to understand that you're doing the right thing, that you're doing the safe thing. I've said it time and time again, people just don't care in the main. It won't happen to them and no one's gonna tell them what to do.

Give clear warning then make a few examples and the message gets round. If you have over 50% of the population on board it will likely work.

Principle is the same with drink drivers, you can't catch them all but increased punishments have reduced it coupled with 50% plus of the population supporting it.

Whilst I agree with you, I wish it was that simple. You have to have the will to fight possible reprisals. I'd like to put my foot down and take a stance but others don't want the hassle.

Honestly don't think the analogy works with drink drivers. People KNOW that drinking driving can kill, and will kill. I'm finding that not enough people actually believe that covid exists and can and will kill you.

I've said all along they should reduce the retirement age.

That would be worse for the economy. Fewer people paying for more retired people's pensions. The generation that has had everything don't need to be given the bonus of retiring early as well.

How do you police littering or shoplifting? You have a law that says it is wrong to do it and 99% of the people comply. Some people are unpoliceable. The rest will do as they are told and the small minority of rule breakers aren't enough to have a big enough effect on spreading the virus. It will be 1% worse, if they don't have the rules it could be 100% worse.
