Borges

Fellows is one of the best right wingers in the league to be fair very direct like Doak.

Thought Borges coped well.

I must admit I thought Jed Wallace was awful and he looks like a 67 year old.

I think Wallace is literally the only professional footballer who actually look older than me! Apart from that Japanes lad who’s 57, but even then I’m not sure…

Fellowes has been the best right winger in the league so far this season and Borges did as well against him as anyone has this season according to my WBA supporting mate.

Best game of his time here by a long shot. He was aggressive, dialed in and defensively solid. He answered most questions i asked of him.

He really doesn't want to push the ball down the line though does he? Few times we lost our width as a result, that's a minor issue and probably came about as a result of being told to retain the ball away from home. Hopefully he builds on that performance (y)

Played very well yesterday. As said elsewhere, benefitting from McGree playing in front of him and being a bit more positionally savvy/disciplined defensively.
I like him. Looks like a decent buy so far 👍

I thought he did really well last night away at probably one of the best sides in the league, against one of the best right wingers, and having only been here a few games.

Defenders alongside him seem to be happy with him there also, and not having a panic attack like Clarke was with Engel there.

Two clean sheets in a row is good.

Solid enough defensively but looks a bit slow to me so can’t really see him marauding up the wing on the outside.

I know it’s been said before but it must be a nightmare to receive the ball and look up to see your left midfielder over on the right wing somewhere. As long as he can keep it simple and he always has the option inside he’ll be fine.

Never saw him as exellent last night wasnt particularly bad eitherwas very slow getting back to defend one ottack in particular after losing the ball. At the moment no better than engel. I think some on here are getting the , oh hes brazillian so hes very good syndrome

I don’t think
Anyone is playing the Brazil card or saying he’s excellent, he’s solid, doesn’t make many mistakes certainly compared to Engel

I'd agree he's not been as big of an improvement on Engel as we hoped so far but I think we sometimes forget or underestimate how long it can take to settle at a new club and even more so in a new country or league.

Borges is a massive upgrade on Engel, although that doesn’t take much doing. Engel is a shocking defender - he isn’t bad at getting forward though and does play in some decent crosses sometimes. If anything he should be a wingback as his defensive inadequacies are too often exposed as a left back in a flat back four.
Going back to Borges i think he’s had a decent start and should get better once he’s more aware of how we play and gets used to the tempo of the championship.
