Thought he was excellent on Saturday, think we all need to lay off him and give him a run of games in the team! Thought he looked good defensively bar once diving in on Koumas, think he'll prove to be a really good signing for us!

I thought he was excellent on Saturday and in general has been since he came in. Everybody was poor at Sunderland, it wasn't just him and Hackney. As has been mentioned elsewhere repeatedly, the way we set up is always going to expose our left back. The only time this hasn't happened under Carrick seems to be when McGree has an extended run in the team. I think looking back Giles was very lucky in this regard; he spent that entire season playing behind either McGree, or Ramsey, who also worked really hard to protect the full back. Giles was also really lucky that he played with Akpom and Archer that season; he wouldn't get anywhere near the amount of assists he got that season this season.

Didn't see him make a mistake, get caught out of position? He supported the attack on occasions and kept it simple..he had a decent game.

Best game so far, hopefully starting to settle I feel there’s still more to come than the steady unbrazilian player we’ve seen so far

A thread said he was terrible after about 5 games. So that's that. Get rid lol.

I remember one saying similar about Rogers. I'm not sure how anyone can make a decision about a player after a few weeks or months. It's takes some over a year.

That said I did say Kike Sola wasn't even a footballer after 45 mins. Nailed that one 😂

He's done fine so far. Solid without being spectacular.

Did seem to get forward and overlap a bit more on Saturday but that was probably because the game allowed it and there was space for him to exploit.

Hope to see a bit more from him in terms of delivery going forward but he seems solid enough.

I like how he often gambles a bit to nip in front of the player about to receive the ball, it's a bit kyle walker like. Now this will go wrong occasionally but it really puts us on the front foot when it works.

It’ll take a bit of time for him to get fully used to The Championship but he seems to have the right attributes and physicality for the division.

Hopefully we can see a bit more of him getting forward in the coming games as it’s a massive part of our game plan to have that overlapping Left back with Riley floating in from the left. It’ll be even more important when sides look at addressing the Doak headache. If they want double up, it should give us more space elsewhere.

Agree with all of the above. Ultimately, your left back is never likely to be your best player in the team. I think the obsession with Giles has made it much harder for any other left back to really be accepted in by the fans. Roll on tomorrow, Borges hat trick....

Solid game for him, but it’s only a week ago that Roberts made him look amateur so he does have a long way to go. Ultimately he is significantly better than the other option we have at LB

Think a lot of fans forget just how much Giles was caught out defensively, although he did make up for it going forward

Giles was a poor left back who happened to be quite good going forward.

He was at partly culpable for the goals conceded against Preston and Sunderland, that didn't make him a write off. Similarly, one reasonable performance against a dog awful stoke side doesn't make him the new Roberto Carlos.

More games and steady ongoing improvement hopefully

I don't think he looked excellent. He had very little to do defensively and i don't think he really showcased much going forward in a game which was made for him to do so really. I'd note that McGree is back in the side though and that should help him enormously. Still time for him to settle in but i've not seen anything that makes me think he's going to be a stand out full back at this level.

Better players than him have taken longer to settle so writing him off after a couple of games ....... hmmmmmm.

I'll be happy if turns out to be a good, solid Championship quality LB. The new Ziege will be a bonus......
