Guedioura. What was that about? Not a great disappointment as I didn't have any high expectations but it typified our recruitment policy. Buy someone we don't really need, pay him but don't play him, give him away for nothing to the manager, Karanka, who never played him at Boro.

Difference being, when man utd paid 2.3m it was the record fee for a derender and was a massive amount.
The season we bought him back 2.5m was a snip. Steve Watson joined Villa about 6m at the same time.
