Big decision to make at Turf Moor next week

Id play Fry And Clarke drop Edmondson. As I feel Clarke offers more of a threat of set pieces and expect this Burnley game to be very tight most likely decided by a set piece 1 nil either way. It's crucial we win though to open up the top 2

I wasn't, that's why I said partly to blame. The guy was running with Fry but got the cross in. Dijksteel, rest of the defence or keeper didn't do enough either.

Anyway I think it's a toss up between Fry and Clarke. Neither are as good as VDB in the way we set up.
Fair point, I apologise. You were quite clear in what you said. For me it was Dijksteel that caused that goal. You can’t head it like that at Championship level. Get your skull on it and get it away from danger. The mess he caused led to others being stretched. I think if he’d just headed it properly we’d have been okay.

edmundson has been outstanding this season much better than clarke. Until rav comes back fry and edmundson would be my first choice pairing

Opinions eh!... Its what we love about this game.

Really interesting to see the split on views regarding Dael Fry. I've always thought that he is quality at the actual defending side of the game but is let down by his distribution which gets highlighted more in this team due to how we play under Carrick. Yesterday I felt he played a lot of balls to Hackney and Dijksteel when they had their back to goal and passed on the initiative to them to then have to turn or distribute to try and get the ball moving in the right direction rather than trying to make a better decision to pick a more positive pass. Maybe after a long spell out the team he wanted to play it safe but he seemed too keen to get rid quickly. When you watch him alongside Edmundson you notice how much he doesn't open his body up the same way so telegraphs his passes more.

I guess the reality is this is the Championship and if Dael was a more complete player he wouldn't still be at Boro at 27 and would be playing at a higher level now so it is what it is. Its great to see he has a lot of backers on here and so he should as 'one of our own'. Woodgate and Carrick are much better placed than me to say if he should be starting and if he is in the shirt then he gets my support but I've always felt with Dael Fry that there is more to come.

Yeh, I think Carrick's biggest head ache is who plays up top.

I'd go Conway v Burnley and ELL v Leeds.

With both coming on in each game after the 60/70 min mark.

What a breath of fresh air it is to have 2 fantastic strikers in this division who can play the sole striker role so well.

I wouldn't swap either of them for anyone else in the league. Sainz isn't a #9, so even he wouldn't come into the equation.

And then you look at the competition around us, and Sheff Utd were previously relying on Kieffer Moore...Sunderland are actually giving minutes to Connolly, Burnley are sometimes relying on a 55 year old Rodriguez and Leeds have Piroe/Bamford who aren't anywhere near the standard of ELL/Conway.

Dieng. Brynn looks a good prospect but that's all at the moment. Needs to work on his distribution.
I think Brynn's distribution was ok. I think his decision making when it comes to coming out for ball. He seemed very hesitant a couple of times yesterday

I think Fry plays. I also think Brynn says in team. In fact think I would, if possible keep the same team as yesterday.

Fry played well yesterday but having a left footed CB alongside Edmunson gives us proper balance, so I'd bring Clarke back in for the Burnley game.

Good problems to have.

Personally I would play Ayling, Fry, Brynn, and Lath in the positions there are questions about. But would not be upset with Dijksteel, Clarke, Dieng and Conway.

I think Clarke and Edmondson are too similar. One of them with either rav or fry would be my choice. One to attack the ball, the other to mop up.

Really difficult to choose between lath and Conway. Lath is a more energetic presence and he can bully defenders. If we are struggling to play out you can hit it up to lath. With Conway it will come straight back if it's not a good ball. If we want to really press them high up pick lath.

Conway's probably a more reliable finisher. Very clever player. Think he'll get bags of goals in his career.
