Barlaser

just rewatched it and it was Hackney that was showing for a ball then went away, allowing to be intercepted.

Still he did start nervously regardless.

No need for th ‘plank’ comment either lad. Never got anything wrong on your life? Nob Ed
To blame anyone other than VDV for the goal is very harsh on the others, he didn't look and the pass was pathetic.

Its also harsh to say it was only against 10 man huddersfield in terms of barlaser, he played well and deserves credit whoever we were up against.

You also highlighted Silvera as being superb so why doesnt he get 'But we shouldn’t forget that was against a 10 man relegation favourite team.'

Good post.

Barlaser was central to the first two goals and deserves credit for that - he's a different player to both Howson and (admittedly to a lesser extent) Hackney, his strength is his passing, so let's judge him on his strengths and only after being given a fair chance in terms if games played.

I didn’t say it was this fault but Hackney did show and then turn away for the pass in his own box. A micro mistake but VDB was at fault.

I don’t agree. Any player looks better with space to play in. They were a man down which gave him that space. Needs to repeat that while playing 10 men and thus having less space. I did give him credit regardless but context is important.

Because what he showed was his pace and movement against their defence. They didn’t have a man less in defence, they sacrificed a player higher up the pitch that would pressure Barlaser.

As I said Barlaser played well after a nervy opening 10 mins, and credit where it’s due, but context also.

Ten eyes for an eye ten teeth for a tooth. Keep it civil fella

Safe hands lad you must be hard Marty I remember you were a boxer back in the day, I can hold my own in person don't worry.
Calling someone a plank, then a fart sniffer as a teenie little light hearted joke is nothing to get sensitive about.
Alas I must remember you're always right in everything you do.

It’s not about being right, i admitted I was wrong, it’s about treating people a bit more civil, like you would in the real world. You could admit your ‘joke’ calling someone a plank, was disrespectful and misguided or do you always have to be right?

The Tyson quote isn’t a threat, just as it wasn’t from Tyson, it’s a commentary on the behaviour of people online. How they’re quick to be abusive to people when they wouldn’t act like that in the real world

If this board does anything consistently well over a period of time is prove the vast majority of football supporters no absolutely nothing about being a professional footballer.

Just posted this on the Match-Day thread in response to unwarranted criticism of Barlaser and the lads in general.
[No apologies - I think its relevant].

The lad is one of a good half-dozen who are on a steep curve, learning together. Sometimes, it seems hes actually ahead of some of his team-mates, but they will all gel and get up to speed quickly. Its like building an effective fighting - unit.

We will all be looking back by Christmas and wondering what the hell we were fretting about. Its natural for fans [dont Boro fans know it], but we have the best gaffa and coaching staff in the Championship, who will turn out some of the best players we`ve had - without paying millions for them.

Its no good comparing individual players to the likes of Giles, or Ramsey or Archer......or anyone else. Those players were a stop-gap and didnt always deliver - sometimes we can have rose-coloured spectacles - even if it was only a few months ago. Its unfair on our players. They are an honest fighting unit - growing and learning together. None of them is a "passenger" or here for "the ride". Carrick wouldnt have them were that the case. Its an insult to Carrick and his staff to suggest otherwise.

Last night, there were some good pin-point passes from the back and slide-rule interceptions. Jonesy [for instance] was more central at times - not just stuck entirely out on the wing and was a key player. Coulson appears to be sharpening his game. There are plenty of signs of green shoots and hopes for the future.

Those who dont give the lads a chance have never been children themselves or reflected on their own "growing up". Without mistakes and other issues, players dont learn the importance of "team work". The difference is that footballers dont have the time to sulk or stamp their feet. Lets give them the encouragement and get us back to competing for the top prize. Get the mistakes out the way and push on.(y)

As someone who has criticised him, he did ok lastnight, there was a 15 min spell where their RWB caused him all kinds of problems, but he stuck at his task gamely. He showed some good bits of quality going forward and was agressive defensively

I'm sorry for calling you a plank Marty 🖖

Fair play i think we agree on Barlaser that so far he has been poor and fingers crossed its the start. I just dont go for it was only against... argument. Especially a well drilled neil warnock team.

I thought he looked really good agaisnt luton towards the end of the season but was poor on Saturday. Interestingly maddo mentioned on tees Barlaser and Hackney being too similar in playing style
