Barlaser

Still to see anything in him that hints he's anywhere near being good enough.

Stood out in a Rotherham team because they are/were shyte. Thank fck Howson is back.

You have to wonder why no one else came in for him that we know of when he became available. I think we are now potentially seeing why. As others have said, he looks weak and for someone renowned for being a good passer, I’m not seeing it

Gave the ball away a lot today, as did Hackney, and also struggled to find space to make himself available for the ball.
In slight defence of them, the movement in-front of them was poor, so I think they were maybe trying to find passes that simply weren’t there.

I said a while ago that he reminds me of Forshaw, or at least his situation does. He’s signed and then barely played because the two ahead of him essentially made themselves undroppable. He needs 10, 12, 14 games as a Boro player to find a rhythm. I think a lot of players but do but rarely seem to be given the time. Tonight will hopefully do him the power of good.

He could be crucial to how we do things differently this year. Let's see who is in the team after the window before we make any decisions on him. Some of the balls he played tonight would have been gobbled up by a real forward..

Sounded like he done well tonight. Seen his assist for Jones goal, lovely little pass.

I’m pleased. Hopefully the start of making me looked like I jumped my gun with my assessment of him.

Been rooting for him since he signed and he let me down each time but not tonight.

Sounded like it was a toss up between him and Silvera for man of the match.

At least he’s gave the gaffer something to think about at the weekend now.

I’d still bring Howson back in.

we clearly bought him as cover for Howson, and so it should be. I guess if I was in his shoes, the chance to join a club not bordering on relegation versus mid-table mediocrity with the Boro then it's a no brainer. However, once Howson's contract is up then I'm sure we'll be looking to either bring someone else in or see how far he progresses and if he's up to the task. I doubt he is but like most have suggested perhaps with a good run of games perhaps he surprises us all.

We just need to give him our time and support and he will come good.

To write him off after 4.5 games worth of minutes is just silly, impatient and juvenile.

I don't think anyone is writing him off completely but many have expressed their concern that since joining the club half a year ago he has shown very little so far.

I appreciate as you have said it is not a huge amounts of minutes, but he has been given chances to start and has thus far failed to take them. Even in cameos he hasn't shown the necessary passing ability or drive that he is going to stamp his authority on a game. Even in short appearances you can get an idea of whether he looks a player or not. At the moment he hasn't looked like one and far from being 'juvenile', people have just called it as they've seen it with an honest appraisal. Many have said similar and I'd hazard a guess more of the fan base are in the underwhelmed camp than, he's not been given a fair crack of the whip yet camp.

I get the comparisons to Forshaw where he just couldn't get in the team, but even in cameos Forshaw looked neat and tidy in possession and confident on the ball, whilst Barlaser has looked sloppy in possession and lacking in belief in his cameos.

Nevertheless, I think we all want the lad to succeed and it's great to here he played really well tonight. Hopefully from the small beginnings of a decent performance against Huddersfield's second string he can grow in confidence, improve, and show he's worthy of a regular starting slot. He'd certainly save us a load of cash if he can do that and be the long term Howson replacement.

People were writing him off on Saturday evening which I think is just wrong, if he had played 20-30 games then I’d understand it.

He maybe hasn't shown much in the “half year he has been with us” because he’s only started THREE games. Give the guy a chance FFS.

I didn't see many people completely writing him off on Saturday, I just saw a number of people expressing concern about a disappointing performance on the back of a pattern (admittedly a short patten) of poor performances. I think most people think he has ability, as he showed that at Rotherham, just he hasn't shown that ability here so far. Some people just don't click at certain clubs no matter how good a player they are, I just hope he's a slow burner and will come good.

Players get the opportunity to impress the management week in, week out, in training. If they perform, they get selected to start. He didn't do enough to persuade Carrick to start him even when we had key injuries in that area, and he was overlooked for a loan player who hadn't really had a look in up to that point. This may well have affected his confidence and in turn performances going forward, which might explain what's happened for him here so far. Hopefully he can turn his career here around.

As for the obvious anger in your post I can only apologise for expressing an opinion about an issue connected to MFC, on a forum for individuals who like discussing matters connected to MFC. If I happen to have an opinion on something similar in the future I will of course ensure I find a more appropriate outlet for entering into any such discussions so as to avoid angering anyone. Cheers
