Bangura looks so much quicker and sharper than Engel

He looks a much better player than Engel, to me, in pretty much every department.

Engel looks a bit hard/like a nutcase, in the way that Pogatetz or Quedrue did, but he's just not, surprisingly, and even worse is his ability doesn't seem there either.
 
Engel has been in good form against teams we would consider our peers and Bangura had a good game against a lower league opposition who granted gave us a scare.

He had a good game and I hope he can push Engel in the position but I don’t think we can really make the conclusion that Bangura is better. I think they both approach the game differently and Carrick must prefer Engel in the way he is adapting to the league and the way he likes to play. But let’s see. I hope we can finally have depth in the position.
 
Pace to burn, lots to learn but we have some potentially exciting players in the squad, it's all about the next steps and can they become consistent Championship player's, if they can we have exciting times ahead

I've only really compared Engel to Banugura mildly, from limited viewings of both, and just think Bangura will be better, and he's not had as many opportunities to show it. I don't see Engel as being any better than Bola up to now, and obviously worse than Giles as most are (which is fine).

As for the TOTW, when was that? The Skybet champ team of the week and EFL TOTW comes from whoscored doesn't it, and he's had no MOM on there at all?

I think the boro comms give him MOM against Cardiff, but I thought he was very poor until his good run when he got one (his only) assist, which ended up being his only decent cross, after many atrocious crosses. This was also the week after he had a mare against Sheff Wed.

I think he's done a couple of decent things, which people seem to want to remember, yet they don't seem to remember the bad things.

Another poster posted the screenshot for team of the week, not sure where from.

You didn't mildly compare them you said bangura was better in every department. Not really called for.

Guess we will see as the season progresses.

Ah ok, fair enough.

It's praise for Bangura as much as a put down for Engel, and it's clearly based on limited viewing of both.

I've not made my mind up, but one looks more promising than the other to me, long term especially and it's not Engel.

Happy to be proven wrong, and for either of them to get better, and hopefully one of them will look good enough to be in a play offs competing team, but I've not seen enough of that from either yet.

Tend to agree but both are showing signs of promise and potential which is encouraging to see

We've come a long way since September 1st, now looks like we might actually be strong in that department!
 
I think Engel has looked better tbh. The match a couple of weeks ago where he had a volley blocked, and then another hit the roof of the net, he looked excellent.

Bangura looks a bit like Dijksteel sometimes has - where he has quite a lot of defensive mistakes in him but is quick enough to recover from them.
