Bangura looks so much quicker and sharper than Engel

Yes but there was a significant change that caused the uptick in form which we are not going to get this year. We are going to continue with the same manager and same players so it is far more likely that our current scoring rate will continue than it would be to change to last years (when we had a much stronger squad of players).
Not sure I agree, entirely. The squad is a new one and you would expect them to get better as they benefit from Carricks coaching and can enact the gameplan more effectively.

Also with the squad being quite young you would expect them to mature and improve. Not looked at the first 7 games v the last 7 games to see if we have improved our goalscoring

There was a few occasions last night where Banguras 2nd touch followed a 10 yard sprint to try and catch up with his first touch. Some of the comments on here 🤦‍♂️

I think we probably had a stronger squad from January, but I'd say we're as strong as a squad compared to this time last season. Obviously we've lost Giles and Akpom. But we've got a bit more strength in depth I'd say overall, plus players like Hackney and McGree have improved with a bit more experience.

In simple terms I think our strongest 11 is weaker, but we have more quality in depth, compared to what we had after Xmas.

We all know that last season was a epic chance at promotion, but sometimes you need a little luck too, which we didn't have.

Bangura does look good going forward but I'd stick with Engel for now.

Think it would be unfair to drop him following the Stoke game, as so many others had an off day, and I'm certain any time now he will score, with a Dean Gordon style left-footed strike from distance.

I wonder how Coulson is feeling these days? Still baffles me why he came back.
Only on the bench to make the numbers up you'd think. 3rd choice left back. Could have 2 keepers on just as easily - as part from 2 injuries/spendings off would give him a chance of coming on surely?
I do feel a bit sorry for him z but Engel is better and Bangura is looking like it too

I can't believe some fans want to replace engel. He had a nightmare start against one of the fastest wingers in the league. Recovered and now looks solid, a goal threat and got his first assist versus a guy who played against league 1 opposition and looked like he plays at a million mile and an hour without a brain.

I just can't see how he will possibly start in the next few months nevermind Saturday.

What some people see baffles me

We had a 28 goal striker last season. We've not got anyone on pace to get to 10 this season. 47 lake goals between Akpom, Archer and Ramsey and we have nobody that will get near any of their goal or game ratios.

We might have a good season but there's no chance we will score at the rate we did last season. Last year was exceptional for us.

I was surprised that Bangura didn’t start against Stoke and maybe in hindsight Carrick probably wished he’d played judging by Engel’s start to the game where his passing was very poor. I’m still not sold on Bangura mind you as his passing also wasn’t up to much v Exeter.

However his contribution to the goals and the overall forward play was outstanding.

It kinda depends on why you think it was exceptional. Either it was because of Akpom having the season of his life or... The way Carrick sets his team up. Likely a bit of both. I am inclined towards crediting Carrick with it and suggest that between the players we will be close to last sessions target.

It will be a fun season seeing who is right.
