A country's climate is driven from the top. This is where we are, people. The board of a County Cricket Club have decreed that their players repeatedly using the word 'P*ki' against one of their own team mates was just 'banter' and disbelieve his own account that he was reduced to tears. He should have apparently realised the nature of the aforementioned 'banter' and just got on with it. Words fail me.

It's a shocking state of affairs. As a proud Yorkshire CC fan I am ashamed of the club's response, it reminds me a little bit of Corbyn and anti semitism. Yorkshire need to admit there is a problem and show how they will address it, at the moment they seem to be allowing Ballance to take the rap, but what about the culture in the club that's allowed that 'banter' to prevail and not be called out?

As a kid I remember Yorkshire had a "born in Yorkshire" policy for playing for them - this lasted until the early 90's. I remember thinking how arrogant that was

A sad state of affairs, but sadly, it's a reflection of how many people still, feel, act and behave.

It seems Yorkshire are still operating in the 70's if they think the term is fine and just banter.
Their board report is a reflection of where we have regressed to as a society, so perhaps they're actually bang up to date. What 12-15 years ago was unacceptable is now firmly in the mainstream.

This lack of action will cripple Yorkshire. Wouldn't surprise me to see one or two of their big names leave due to cost cutting as well. For Gary Balance there is no future in the sport either, he will be scapegoated for this.

I loved hearing convicted racist Trevor Sinclair lecturing TalkSport listeners on this yesterday. Don't normally listen to it but was interested to hear what the ESPN Cric Info journalist who wrote the story had to say about it, but had to turn it off.

YCCC are haemorrhaging sponsors, yesterday Yorkshire Tea ended their sponsorship early following the departure of Anchor Butter, Emerald Publishing, Tetley’s Beer, David Lloyd Clubs and Age Partnership...

Not good to be seen acting like rabbits caught in the headlights, do they not have any PR advisors FFS?

Just had to look on Trevor Sinclair's wiki page.....used to think he was ok! Didn't we try to sign him once?

Absolutely shocking. The fact that he has had to prove this over 18 months whilst people with in the club were denying it😕

The very people who have now admitted it. I mean just do it in the first place so he hasn't had to go through this. It's stunning that people haven't been sacked over this. You call someone the P word at my place of work and you'd be out that day (I imagine pretty much any work place).

The good thing is that now the pressure is on to name and shame individuals. I hope that heads will roll over the next few weeks. It's still not acceptable that's its taken over 18 months. Also they are feeling it the pocket as they are losing nearly all of their main sponsors.

Seems more akin to today's Owen Paterson Tory shyster shenanigan's. I mean the team were caught red handed being immoral, by any normal societal measure. But the elites at the top, the people in power tried to brush it under the carpet rather than ensure accountability.
