Ayling

Our problems were not down our right , it was down our left , Engel out of position and space got exploited 1st half , and they scored because he had gone missing again .
And he knew it .

Is right back back a long term problem?

I saw Smith as a reliable rb in our lopsided system. Ayling does the same job
Of course It is smith is heading towards the end of his career and is absolutely mediocre and our back up options are even worse

Strange take from the game. I thought he did alright against the best winger in the league. I'm saying that after hearing all the mackum fans hype. The best player on the pitch by a country mile. One of the best in the division.

He stands out like a sore p*ck in this league. He won't be with them next season.

Ayling has been decent so far. He's a short term fix that suited both parties. A better option at RB then sticking Rav out wide. I actually thought he was really good 2nd half.

Don't rule out Ayling being with us next season. Out of contract in the summer. You'd say neither him or Smith are longterm solutions. Yet both can more than do a job.

Smith is 31. The way Carrick likes us to play is with the right back tucking in to make a 3 and the left back pushing right up. Smith and Ayling can both play the role well

They can if you want mediocrity both are bang average championship players i think we should aspire higher

You’re absolutely right. We should have got Dani alves at right back instead. I mean this in the nicest possible way, glover, but I can tell you haven’t played the game at any sort of level.
