Are you in favour of the latest deal with the EU ?

The fishing industry is worth £987m p/a (2019 figure) so fishing rights are hardly a purely symbolic gesture if that is to be protected. That said, we are a net importer of fish

Line 1 is now
Line 2 is the future when perhaps one world is a viable option
Should probably remove this 'greed will always win' bit from Line 1 then because that suggests nothing will ever change. I am like you in that I hope for a Star Trek future where greed and accumulation of wealth isn't the main driver, but it won't happen in my lifetime.

One world one race. If only. Corruption and greed will always win unfortunately.
When we have fission power and energy is plentiful and free we can be more egalitarian.
Star Trek does have some good ideas

Having worked all over the world I came to realise we are all fundamentally the same. There are different ways of going about things, but people ultimately have the same needs, regardless of race or where they happen to be born.

I might as well paste what I put on the other thread:

We'll be getting a deal that satisfies the EU, that BloJo proclaims as a "victory" but that leaves most people in the UK (on both sides of the Brexit argument) unhappy.

Our MP's who are almost totally unfit to understand the detail of the deal will then vote it through without proper scrutiny. We'll have to wait to see if it gets ratified on the European side, that'll be after proper analysis on the part of each "sovereign" member country.

We aren't ready for the end of the transition period and will be relying on the goodwill of the EU to keep functioning in a lot of areas.

Our future will be one of being in continuous arguments with ourselves and continuous negotiations with the EU. We'll also be seeing the motherload of all unintended consequences.

Great post windy.
One race one nation is who we really are.....really are....not this small minded barriers and fear idea....can’t quite understand people’s utter limited thinking...

Johnson’s strung it out to avoid scrutiny. So.
DUP, ERG and all the groups for whom being livid is their natural state will kick off.
Sturgeon will rumble on and on, and still find a way not to demand a referendum.
N Ireland get 4 years of having what we’ve just lost, then get a vote on keeping it, or not. Guess the way that will go.
Starmer will vote for it, but pretend he’s actually abstaining

But it will have to do until we reapply for membership.

Are you in favour of the latest deal with the EU ?

No. I didn't want to leave, I didn't see a reason for leaving, and I didn't want my kids to miss out when they weren't entitled to vote. There will be a lot of claims of "victory" from the usual fly-by-nights, but, you know, who cares what e.g. Farage thinks. I saw him and his minders at a recording of Any Questions a few years back - spouting unchallenged all sorts of guff without the remotest hint of responsibility. We get the country we deserve.

Our Nige..That great man of the ordinary working bloke, says he has big concerns over the fishing deal..Has he seen the deal yet? but I'm sure as he's getting plenty of media time today, he will surely find a way to sqeeze a few more shillings out of it somehow !!!!
