Are Sunderland fans the most delusional fans in the country?

As an aside, just a glance at that 'Boro Forum' thread on RTG

Obsessed with a team they say means nothing to them.
Even the barcodes haven't got a thread of detestation this big.

Middlesbrough...Living rent free in mackem heads since 1879 😅

Been several posts recently about Patterson being worth £50 million and Clark £35 million . 2 defeats later Patterson isn't up to it and Clark doesn't care 😆

Have you seen that thread on their forum? Some bloke is posting constantly and arguing that he doesn't care about Middlesbrough. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

The F***ing irony is hilarious.

It's just pathetic really. I can guarantee if you go on any other club's forum in the country they won't have a thread on Boro which has 3k replies.

Of course, some will claim "It's because Boro fans keep bumping the thread".

Yes, I'm sure a large percentage of the 3k replies is Boro fans who are on the board every day posting.

I think it's well known that RTG is a site for imbeciles. Yes ironic that the new social media generation in denying a derby so hard they have actually created one.

Tbf, there are a few on that particular thread that are realistic and sound and actually agree it's a derby.

It's obviously not their main derby, but that doesn't mean Sunderland v 'Boro isn't a derby.

Most teams in our country have more than 1 derby.

Those on that thread who are suggesting they don't care about us and it's not a derby, are definitely deluded.

The fact they sell more tickets for a game against us, than any other league fixture, says everything.

Lets be honest they are so poor as a club there is no longer any rivalry with Newcastle. Even though they dont see us a derby opponents they do see as competitive rivals, and i think we are definitely getting under their skin. After a good start this season for Sunderland where an average squad was exceeding expectations things have gone suddenly very flat and i can see only disappointment for them this season. I dont think they are good enough to make the playoffs and i can see them turning on Mowbray.

It’s simple really. It’s a rivalry for them but it’s a minor one. A large chunk of their fan base is in denial on the first half of that point and a large chunk of ours is in denial about the second half. It’s a pointless and sterile argument.

I was on a vendor call last week with a guy who was a Sunderland fan and a colleague of mine from the US who has no idea who Boro and Sunderland are. Said fan was trying to suggest to US colleague that Sunderland were the most successful North East team of the 20th Century. My colleague asked what about the 21st, I had a wry smile as I raised my hand. I later confirmed to US colleague that by most successful of last century, he means they won the league in the early 1900's. 'Pfft' was his reply.

I take your point on Newcastle but the mackems have come roaring back with their future managerial options apparently including Graham Potter, Julen Lopetagui and Joachim Low.

A few of them are probably thinking Zinedine Zidane would struggle to turn them down once he realises they won a league title a 100 years ago.

I've just noticed they're debating whether or not Leeds/Sunderland is a derby on their board 🤣

They can't have taken Geography as a subject at school.

Sunderland and Leeds isn't a derby because Leeds is located in a different region.

Boro and Sunderland is a derby on paper because we're both located within the same region. It's not rocket science.

I thought we were in Yorkshire.

I used to think so but feel there’s one or two on this board giving them a run for their money.

There’s a few on here who feel entitled and that we only have to whistle and a player will return.
