Are Sunderland fans the most delusional fans in the country?

Just read a few threads of their RTG forum. Wow. What a pack of whining idiots.

Claiming ref bias. Neil should have gone for the first card, reckless endangerment. Any of their own fans pointing out his stupidty getting shouted down by the masses.
He also didn’t give us a very blatant penalty and another that probably should of been as well.

Made a thread about how no player should be sent off for dissent. Oh yeah that will encourage respect for referees.🤦‍♂️

Greenwood was booked for dissent so was Neil. Yet they are crying like babies saying there was no consistency.

Complaining not enough of our players were booked yet Ballard, Onien and Roberts should of had 3 yellows each.

The Greenwood thread is vile. Personal insults on his appearance, what’s the average age of them 10 FFS. Complaining about his celebration. He didn’t even celebrate.

So many are obsessed with vile child abuse chanting as well. Seems to be on the mind of a lot of them, perhaps the police should be checking the computers of any caught on camera chanting about it.

Think I’ll leave the seagull subject alone. I wont stoop that low.

I’ve probably missed aload of other reasons as well.

Yep it’s decided. They are definitely the most entitled, cry baby bunch of fans I’ve ever come across.

Yes, given they’ve never really even played in europe and they won the cup when they weren’t even in the top flight.

Their delusion far exceeds Leeds and Newcastle who have relative success esp in Europe.

I think in the main, all teams have fans with similar expectations and delusions. Reading their forum earlier, there were certain elements to it which reminded me of this forum - certainly after a defeat.

One thing that did stand out though.

One lad posted about when Mowbrays job review was up. As far as I can see, Mogga is doing a great job with that squad of players. Much like us, he’s had some good players sold and loans not fully replaced from last year. It feels like a lot of their success will hinge on keeping their best players fit - Pritchard, Clarke, Roberts and no doubt a few others. Their bench looked threadbare.

If they’re top 8 after 46 games with that squad then they’ve over achieved this season. That’s of course unless they invest in January but they could easily lose more players you would think.

Yeah read that thread as well, should of mentioned it above. They are massively over achieving as they did last season. Especially as they dont have a half decent centreforward. Hes done very well with them.

As much as I’d love to agree, I know a few West Ham fans who’re convinced they’re a sleeping giant waiting to take over the world.

I can imagine that. They win the worst behaved fans for me. That premier league match when we last went up where their fans were attacking women and kids will live long in the memory. Most violent fans in the country over recent times for me.

there is a boro fan on another thread on here who has done similar - about his teeth and haircut

there's numerous threads about the seagull bloke on here

there is bound to be negative posting's on their boards - they have just been beaten at home by a local rival in the annual grudge match - they're not delusional, they're just very very disappointed and upset - as we would be.

enjoy our win and the very positive performance against 11 men for 45mins and 10 for 50mins.

it's not just sunderland that as completely deluded, as said already west ham, they are completely insane to. always have been. ive always said spurs are the southern version of Newcastle and west ham southern version of sunderland.

though ashley regime seemed to change the barcode fans i know. they just seem happy fans now. rather than mentally ill.

Don’t get me the wrong the majority of their fans are sound. While I appreciate your balanced response and know it comes from a good place, for me you give them far too much credit. There are levels and lines and they are stepped over by the masses when it comes to Sunderland rather than the few.

To be fair Sunderland do have incredible support. if Boro had 43000 at home games I would get a bit carried away.

absolute crazy gang from my experience. I once worked for a company with a sunderland branch... every monday after a game the branch manager was missing so I asked the reason why.

turned out the he was a sunderland "ultra" and he was making sure if he was arrested he didnt miss work. this guy was 32 at the time with wife and kids at home.

absolute head the ball.

Growing up in a 99% Sunderland supporting area, I will say that the vast majority of fans are long suffering fatalistic types, every silver lining has a cloud etc. Not dissimilar to Boro fans.

Pretty fickle, although I knew a few absolute diehard ST holders, home/away every season no matter how bad they were. They were good lads, could have a good craic about football with them. Never any problems.

But, then you have the types who are plutonium grade knuckle dragging bellends .....who happen to support Sunderland.

Think these are the types most likely to resort to the vile abuse, the online hard men. Every club has got them unfortunately.

Delusional? Nowhere near Geordies in my opinion. Not even close.
