Are France the biggest opposition since Germany 1990?

It does seem overly confrontational, or just a bit of fun, or the sun pandering to their racist readership? Who knows.

I’m not a fan, I don’t like what they stand for and anyone in this country with any connection to football should upon my opinion not touch them with a ten foot barge pole.
 
My Dad said he's probably not going to watch it. Said he doesn't think his blood pressure could take it.

According to the French journalist Julien Laurens, we are thought of as much better team in Europe than what are we of thought in the UK and he thinks our front 7 are the best in the world.

As world champions France probably expect to beat everybody but I’m sure they’d probably have rather faced a number of teams in the QFs than us.
 
It’s a very exciting test isn’t it. Got to beat the big boys if you want to win one of these.

I do think France are maybe half a level above us, they’ve just got so many fantastic players and that’s without Benzema, Pogba, Kante. I didn’t fancy them before the tournament just because no-one wins back to back world cups and drama with Mbappe etc, but for me they’re the most talented and deep squad for sure.

We are close, though. This could be the biggest test and signature win of Gareth Southgate’s time, or the end of it. I can’t wait for this one, feels very big.

Betfair is an even worse indicator than Bookies odds. Its purely a reflection of where the money is placed. With no scientific or expert influence whatsoever

England fans are very critical of our own squad. It's been like that for years. You can read some of the tripe on this board. People slating Sterling, Kane, Rashford amongst others. And a few years back you would see people slating Rooney despite him being probably the only genuine world class player in the squad at the time.

I think it's partly caused by years of disappointment. Also, I think people struggle to put their dislike of players aside.

There's been countless threads on this board about Southgate and probably more people slagging him off than supporting him. We have just become very negative as a country for some reason.

Beyond their first XI it isn't that deep a squad.

They have good depth at centre half, but we are better almost everywhere else.
