Archer - the Return

Archer is the classic example of the badly advised footballer..... While money talks..... It leads players like Archer who are only likely to attract bottom of the PL teams because he in all likelihood isn't ready for that level. He needs games and games for a team that wins more than it loses..... Where he is scoring goals and progressing his career. He has just wasted a year of his career. He might have a shed load of cash..... But he is no further forward than when he left Boro.

For what it's worth..... Ramsey.... Giles..... And Akpom for that matter..... All similar!!!

If Archer's advisors have any sense..... They should be telling him..... You need championship football at a team that works for you..... Realistically he's not getting any PL move as he's done nothing at Sheffield United.

He needs to be careful that his career doesn't start to drift and bypass him...... He might have to take a pay cut to move forward!

He'd be top of my list for the summer!
 
I would have thought we would only get him back on loan and pay say £25k/week and the rest paid by who ever owns him.
 
Villa are contractually forced to spend 14m on him this summer, but they really don’t need or want him.

They will want to sell, and probably recognise his time at Sheff United has set his value back significantly. I don’t see any prem side wanting him and offering their money back, his prem season was so poor. I don’t see a champ side offering what Villa would accept, considering they’d have to pay part of his wages.

Im not sure what the answer is for him, maybe Burnley might be interested but if not then I think it’s out on loan again and try to rebuild his rep
 
I don't think we'll play two upfront so I can't see this happening. As great as it would be to see Archer return, his replacement in LL has been great.
 
We need at least 2 good strikers as this league is brutal for injuries and games coming thick and fast.. If we could get a good deal for Archer I would get him. LL would be my first choice number 9 though.
 
Would be interesting to see Archer up front with ELL in the Chuba role. ELL has never stopped running lately, playing midfield and sometimes fullback! Can you imagine him in the number 10? He can hold the ball up, link up the play, can score and is like lightning! The pass to Thomas in the second half for the one on one shows his intelligence.

This has to be pure fantasy football talk. I think Archer has done enough to prove he’s worthy of premier league football now after his exploits in the league. Villa will definitely need him for CL football next season.

27 games (18 starts) and 4 goals with 1 assist. Not what I would call fantasy football
He's probably a top striker in the championship but not good enough I'm the premier league for me
 
Can’t see it. Might go to one of the relegated teams who have the money to pay a larger chunk of his wages (presumably not Shef Utd that’d be a bit weird)

I think latte lath is a better all round striker, as quick as archer, significantly better in the air, got the same knack of scoring goals and works significantly harder than archer or is smarter than archer when hunting down defenders.
Saturday was the best performance I have seen from a boro striker in a long time.
I loved archer’s goal threat but he used to go missing in games, especially the playoffs for me.
 
I can’t see it happening. Latte Lath has established himself as our centre forward and is just as good as Archer. Not sure we need to pursue an expensive deal for him anymore.
 
It would be a very expensive loan deal, we definitely need to add another striker to the squad, but I think we should be looking at the lower leagues for a player who has all the right attributes that we can develop.

Like many have said Lath is as good if not better than Archer and Josh is coming along nicely.

It would feel like we are just developing someone else’s player again if we got Archer back.
