Anyone feel like they may have got a little bit carried away?

About Wilder and Burnley. I’m guilty of it myself. I think too much time online contributes to it. Doom-scrolling and clicking like here and there, and then being fed more of what you like. You sort of notice how things operate now when stories like this pop up.

It feels as though Wilder just answers questions in the way that he does. Perhaps a lot of others wouldn’t answer them that way, perhaps we need to get to know him better. Perhaps we need to trust him more. I still think he could’ve handled the questions and speculation better but maybe that’s me putting my expectations onto someone else and then reacting when that person does things differently. Maybe a lot of us just over-reacted. Some more then others, but still.

We also may have to get used to it. He’s probably going to be linked to a lot more jobs as long as he’s with us. Because he’s a good manager with a very good track record. Forget the last 3 or 4 results, his stock his high.

Speaking of stock, maybe some of us should take a little more of that before jumping on speculation in the way a lot of us have since Monday afternoon. I know I’ll be trying to do that in future.

Roll on Saturday and Swansea City.

This week was my return after my month's rest from social media. I've been taking this break for the last three years and normally, like someone who gives up meat or alcohol for lent, I don't feel the need to dive back in on the first day but this week, with me finally catching covid and having a lot of time to myself, I've hardly been off this site, checking for updates or new information.

Personally, after watching the post match interview video, I don't think he has any intention of going anywhere and is merely showing his frustration with journalists asking the least important question right after a series of damaging home defeats.

No, not really. I reckon he'll go in the summer. You can't say things like 'you never know what's around the corner' when talking about rumours of interest from another club and not expect people to think you're looking for a better position. Brought it on himself entirely and I think he will want to go as soon as a Premier League team with a hope of staying up comes calling.

Quite frankly some of the hysterics have been difficult for me to comprehend. The worst culprits are those that say even if he stays, they'll never forgive him for not flat out ruling himself out of contention for the Burnley job. Some even want him sacked, seemingly oblivious to the contradiction of demanding unwavering loyalty from our manager, whilst being prepared to terminate the same manager simply for not saying something they wanted to hear.

Well said Viv. 👍

No, all is perfectly calm and serene for me here up in a tree, on the outskirts of Gawthorpe Hall with my binoculars, camouflage gear and camera drone, having a short break away from it all.

Wilder didn’t help himself out, but he also didn’t say he was going
He to me appeared like a man who was tired of answering the same question, he had already prior to the games said he was not going. Lots of interpretations could of been taken from the way he answered later, to me he was just tired of the same question, the problem is when the bookies start giving him him as their most popular, that isn't a reflection of likely outcome but them trying to reduce their odds and potential losses if it happens, they don't have a clue it was probably Boro fans trying to get a piece of the action who were fueling the panic, and before someone gives me a sensible answere again about how he could have done better in his answers, don't bother it looked clear enough to me in the way he answered he was tired, I think ask yourselves why it didn't to you our Chrissy wears his heart on his sleeve for better or worse, I like that in him

No, dead easy for him to answer. He’s a fully grown man with a bit about him, he knows the score. Roll on Saturday indeed!

I want him beating his chest, kissing the badge and the works. I want him to sacrifice himself for this club I want him leading by example and running through walls for the boro.

This isn’t fly fishing or paint by numbers! We go to Swansea on Saturday and we go to war. We’re fighting for our reputation our legacy our future. I want to see each and every player taking their opportunity.

Not only on the pitch, on the bench too! I don’t want to see Matt Crooks with his head down checking his phone. I want to see him running every yard kicking every ball. Same with Dael Fry no need to be on his phone when mentally he should be on the pitch, visualisation, anticipating movements reviewing our defenders place and body positioning. Why not take the opportunity to better yourself? No point being there sat in the stand taking up a seat.. plenty of lads getting chucked out or banned that couldn’t afford a ticket. Plenty of fans never given the chance to play sport full stop let alone professionally of for their team. That’s the stuff dreams are made of, life is short, wake up and make the most of it!

Each and everyone of our players have the opportunity to make a genuine impact on the lives of thousands, to be seen as a hero and change the life path of someone struggling..

Not carried away at all. Hes trained to answer question correctly without causing problems. He failed massively. That's true whether he goes or not.
By doing so he has caused problems with the fans the owners and the players.
It was simple to deal with. He didn't and still hasn't

Odd thing to say.
Don't you think who our manager is and how many times MFC win are linked?
Yes, but managers move from place to place, even Wenger was shown the door, and unbelievably Ranreri.

I just want MFC to win, if that was Micky Mouse I would not give a fig.

Of course managers move on and of course I support the club and not the manager.
But that doesn't stop me having views on the current manager, whoever it is. Purely because they have a direct impact on the team.
In the same way I give a fig who is in goal, or who is playing up front. Even who is on the bench.

Couldn't agree more with the OP. Granted, we're on an awful run at the worst possible time, but the stench of wet bedsheets in here over the past couple of days has been overpowering. It's a free country and everyone will have a different view, but the people who now avowedly want him out after such a brilliant turnaround from earlier in the season, all because someone in the press started a rumour..... I don't even know where to begin.

Still very concerned about it all and not at all confident that he's staying.

If there's nothing in the links, Wilder shoulders a great deal of the blame for the current unrest for answering the questions like an idiot.

I don't think he is an idiot though, I think it's more likely that he actually is interested in the Burnley job and is putting out feelers.
