Yeah, looked to me as if he was shoved off the ball. Think anywhere else on the pitch that's a foul.
It boils my plss that, the defender used his physical strength to knock Balogan who was slightly unbalanced off the ball in the box, no foul, no penalty. Defender grabs Balogan by the shirt and drags him along the ground to remonstrate with him, nothing done. Referee didn't even get involved, play goes on.
Ten minutes later, outside the box, Balogan uses his strength to knock the defender who is slightly unbalanced off the ball, immediate whistle and free kick in defenders favour.
I hate that certain rules aren't as strictly enforced in the box. There maybe a big rise in penalties for a while, but the players would have to adapt.
Or the flip side, neither are given as fouls and we play on.
It always seems the 'maybe fouls', or 'I've seen them given' type ones are routinely awarded outside the box, or when a defender commits them, but not as often inside the box, or if a forward closing down a defender commits them.
Edit*
Unless it is Man U or Liverpool etc. obviously.
