How do we know that Sol Brynn is just average - we haven't even seen him play yet. He was Queen of the South's player of the year and was apparently brilliant for them.
It's not really a tough ask for a keeper to look good in Scottish Championship side, playing behind an awful defence who are now bottom of the championship. Not sure how he got player of the year as he was only there half this season wasn't he, and the other half is yet to come?
Keepers in poor leagues and teams, behind poor defences get loads of opportunities to look good, and get little blame when they concede or make errors, as there's usually bigger problems going on.
How many times have we seen "good keepers" for teams near the bottom of the league, look bang average when they go into a good side and have to save it when it matters, saving 1/1 or not making any errors? Saving 4/6 shots on target is difficult to measure ability.
Not saying he couldn't be good mind, Jones came back from a QOS loan, and look what happened since.
For me, we have to assume Brynn is average, until he's proven not to be, and if he was doing better than the other keepers in training he would be at least making the bench, but he's not yet made the bench for the U-23's has he, in the last month? We've used 9 keepers for the U-23's this year.
We need to offload the majority of our keepers and get a good, solid, proven, no 1, and I think that needs to be our priority in the summer.
