A new keeper is a priority.

I am not sue what Lumley has done wrong since being put back into the starting line up. He hasn't had a huge amount to do, but seems capable enough at this level.
He looks like he will make a mistake every game. And his Tim Henman pumping of the fist is annoying.

There are better keepers out there, would I want to spend a couple of million on one? Nah not really. Looking like you will make a mistake is one thing, is he actually making many? He was off his line a couple of times last noght, very sharply to end attacks.

Sol Brynn is being recalled, maybe Wilder thinks that he might be the answer.
Maybe there are more important positions to fill.

I don't think it's a priority. I think he's the best of an average bunch. I love a top keeper but financially can't see it.

It can't be a 'priority' as we have 3 and 25 man squad and FFP issues. I imagine one will move on in Jan.

I can't see why we are recalling Brynn unless he's going to in the mix?

Apparently been superb up in Scotland. So who knows. He maybe being brought back to be No1 or 2

We have conceded one goal in the whole of December and that was nothing to do with the keeper. I haven't seen him do anything to warrant replacing him being a priority. Our goals against column is (if I'm reading it right) 5th best in the division with 24 conceded. Our goals for is mid table 12th best. We need to score more goals and a new keeper is not going to make that much of a difference. The tightest defence in the division is West Brom with 18 conceded would a new keeper put us above them? I doubt it. Lumley is OK and with Brynn coming back we can have a look at the lad perhaps in the cup? I guess Stojanovic is finally offski?

That is my view.

Cloughie said a good keeper is worth 10-15 points a season.

Randolph would fit the bill.
Lumley isn't a premier league quality keeper but that's the only kind of keeper we should be interested in to replace him.

As for Randolph......why the obsession with resigning old players?

He's coming up 35 now. He took his money and has been happy to sit at west ham not playing (5 appearances since left us) and is currently 4th choice at West Ham. He may have made the odd great save but he was just as likely to drop a blob and cost us a goal as well.

Wouldn't take him on a free transfer let alone pay anything for him. And lets not get into the stories regarding his girlfriend.

Every position I am sure is under review at all times with the manager. Goal keeper I doubt will be any different. Personally I have not been impressed by any of our keepers since Randolph left. It is an absolute crucial position in the team. It would be a shame if a potential promotion season were to be jeopardised by this weakness.

At some stage in the next few months we will need the keeper to be our best player and keep us in games I’m not sure from what I have seen that JL is the man for the job.

Time has moved on since Brian Clough. Since the advent of a 3 point win, winning one game and losing another is better than drawing two.

Lumley is doing ok, but the problems are at the other end. It's getting better I know, but 29 goals in 25 games is really pretty mediocre. Spend any money that's available to find players who can create and score goals, because it'll have a much greater effect on the points total.

Agreed on the sentiment, but not Randolph, nope. Decent keeper but decided the money was more important. I want a hungry keeper, someone that has a desire to achieve on the field, and someone we can cement as our number 1 for a decade.

Yup Lumley has been ok. Nothing he could do with Blackpools goal and a didn't spill anything, his passing was a little scary a couple of times but he got away with it.

It's definitely a position we can improve but it's not horrific.

Goals, yes, need a natural goalthreat.

I don't get the obsession with Randolph. He was a very good shot stopper, but was poor in the air and a poor distributor.
We will need a better keeper shortly, but the priorities should be much further up the pitch, where we need more goals.

Brynn and Hemmings have had great seasons in Scotland, and Brad James was progressing nicely till his injury.

Somehow we have 3 young keepers with a good level of potential, who could occupy all the GK slots we need
