53 points - Now Safe?

We're now getting into the higher end of the most points anyone's gone down with - and we won't lose the last 9. So we'll stay up, but I still think the play offs are a big ask. Probably winning 7 of the last 9 - or winning 6 and drawing at least some of the other 3

Win on Saturday and like it or not we're in the mix during the international break.
Though we'd probably need to win 7 of the final 8.
The games against Southampton, Ipswich, Leeds & Hull make it unlikely. But not impossible.

I admire your optimism I actually think if we win 7 out of 9 we will be in the playoffs . I just feel even winning 5 out of 9 is the best we can hope for.
 
As we’ve seen time and time again it doesn’t take much in this league.

The prospect of a relegation scrap 7 days ago was a very real one. Were it not for an arguably fortunate red card V Norwich we could well have been in one.

It’s revisionist to suggest otherwise.

That being said, you take the luck when it comes and we were due a couple of results.

Keep the winning streak up and of course it’s possible. But we’re equally likely to lose the next couple.

Mid table beckons, as always.

We were looking like we were heading for relegation. 6 points above and the bottom teams has started winning. It was still very unlikely though because 9 teams being 6 points better than us was very unlikely. Same way we are now 5 points off the playoffs but the chances of us being 5+ points better than 5 teams is low.

We were 150/1 last week for relegation and half an hour into that Norwich game it was looking like good value.

It's pretty much impossible to get relegated now, even if we lost every game remaining.
 
The gap was down to 6 points wasn’t it recently? We were rubbish and losing games so definitely heading for a battle. 3 quick wins and those concerns are gone. Typical of the Championship.

I reckon we’ll finish about where we are now. A top ten finish after a very disrupted season is decent.
 
I remember Peterborough going down one season with 54 points which must be record points for a relegation team. Leicester made the playoffs that season with 68 points.
