Agreed he may have got that wrong but very difficult to overturn if soft signal is out and replays aren’t great.

Now he takes a fraction of a replay to make that call without looking to see if his finger was under the ball.

It looked like it's dropped but look at more replays to be certain.

It was way too quick and that is what has caused the anger from England.

If he looked at multiple angles and took time to be 100% then there's no issue, instead he took a fraction of a replay and stopped at the point it looked to have hit the ground without rolling it on to even check his fingers weren't under the ball.

The soft call was out, the third umpire did not even try to establish if they might be right.

I suspect that if it was Root caught Kohli, he might have took a bit longer...

That's true, but he should be appealing to the umpire rather than running towards slips with arms in the air.

Ball and conditions.

The pink ball has more lacquer and a much prouder seam, which aids pace early and spin later. In theory anyway.

Conditions are very different too under artificial lights and dew falling in the evening.
