21 years ago today

Was on a shuttle bus from Sutton Bennington to Nottingham Uni when someone got on to say a plane had crashed into the twin towers - seems not so long ago

At work in Baker Street London, but had gone out for a long lunch with the boss. Came back to the office and we had a radio rentals sort of TV hire place on ground floor next to us so we saw the pics and the text on screen and it was at the point of showing long distant shots of the first tower with smoke . I think the text just said small plane suspected of crashing into tower. We couldn't make sense of it then went into office so was sat at desk when it started to really unravel then couldn't get any response from the internet at all. We had a radio put on over the ceiling speakers and the 22 IT dept I was in just sat in stunned silence I think esp as our main US office was down the road from it.

Like many others at work. I remember leaving the work car park heading for the office when the Security Guard told me about the first plane. Once I arrived at my desk I told the people I work with. The went online not long before the second plane.

I was at work, watched it on TV just before the 2nd plane struck the tower. It was surreal. Can't believe it's 21 yrs ago. A truly horrific unforgettable day. RIP all those killed.

On a flight from Birmingham to Newark. We were probably the last plane across and we were diverted to Moncton (New Brunswick). Kept on the plane for 2 hours then taken to a hanger with seating and TV's where we saw what had happened. The local Red Cross and other organisations eventually found us (there were several diverted planes here) accommodation with local families, hotels and other facilities. We stayed 3 nights with a lovely family that I have written to every anniversary since.
