🐙Cut your energy bills nearly in half with Octopus Tracker

On the Octo-Aid app I have changed the tracker. It seems to be pulling in the slightly higher electricity price but not the gas price at the moment. So Electric showing 17.2 which was 15.3 under July tracker but Gas has remained at 3.5 when it looks like it should be 3.8. Is there something else I should be doing? The 3.8 rate is pulling through on the gas tracker.uk site since I changed the electricity tracker on there

Lot of chat today around if agile is slightly cheaper now. I suppose if you can load shift out of 4-7PM you could make better savings, but for me I am happy with Tracker - but just for those that might want to load shift to save more, its worth taking a look. you could even go on tracker for the colder months and then back to agile once the 9 month block is served to avoid those 70p spikes

Could you just clarify the tariff information we should use in the October-Aid app. The electric seems to be working but the gas seems to be different rates to those on the gas tracker site. I have set both tariffs as the electric December 2023 tariff in October-aid. TIA

I use octopus compare for this but the tariffs are listed on here

For me it's basically very little in it to switch over but if people have an EV they clukd
Charge overnight and if you were more minded to load shift then you could make savings

For us though we use a lot 4-7 so no good

Yes just to get the right updated tracker calculations in Octo-Aid 👍
You can reimport your meter and it should set it automatically but if not just select December tracker

Rates tab should show like this then, sams code for gas but with a G at the start

On gas tracker uk are you making sure you have the right region selected? What I am seeing matches the gas tracker site currently but each region is different

Great thanks, the reimporting set up the right gas tracker info as I had the wrong one in. Really helpful as always and much appreciated 👍

I'm having problems with seeing the daily gas usage on the app, always worked OK for both electricity and gas, now only electricity shows, contacted Octopus and they think it might be to do with my phone model which is a Samsung galaxy A21s but are still investigating.
Anyone else experiencing similar problems?

Am I right in thinking that as the price cap is coming down we should also see cheaper prices, as long as the predicted reduction in cost of energy plays out?

Morning all - so now the Price Cap will drop by 12.3%, does this change anyone's thinking on the Tracker or is it just keep a watching brief for now?

Stick with the tracker or go on agile if that suits, the price cap and any tariffs based on that, are a con.

Unless a company comes in and offers a fixed for 15p electric and 4.5p gas, then I ain't moving, and even then I would take some convincing as that's what I've paid over the last month, the coldest month of the year, and I expect to pay less in the coming months.

No, have you tried from desktop? I almost never use octopus app anyway personally as there is much better data available on the third party apps

Yeah. Exactly the same for me and I have an iPhone.

Won't change my thinking until it's actually cheaper

It's closer to the tracker price but still above it, and forecast to drop again before rising slightly again end of year

There is no direct correlation as tracker buys energy on the daily markets whereas wholesale prices in the hedging required for price stability but tracker has been dropping in price gradually anyways with 30 day averages of 4p/17p

agile slightly cheaper again, especially with ev battery or load shifting, but for many the simplicity of tracker still wins for now but worth doing your own comparisons

This shows my agile vs tracker since the new tariff launched in December, not worth the hassle for me for £5, we use a lot 4-7

Yeah. Exactly the same for me and I have an iPhone.
I recommend octo aid for iOS, can't comment for android but sure someone can recommend but octo aid even works with the octopus mini for live elec usage. Not sure if it has intraday gas use but I don't really look at that tbh

Only my gas usage is now showing on the Octopus app (Android, with mini), my electricity is not showing either live or historical data.

May be just a glitch as it's around my billing period, will need to check back in a couple of days.

Also, on the app you can get a free hot drink at Greggs every week.

I wouldn't go out my way for a Greggs coffee but if you are in there anyway then that's a bonus.
Also, as Nano pointed out which would have otherwise bypassed me, free coffee at Greggs for Octopus customers, a nice little bonus.
