William assaulted Harry...

One question why has he completely back tracked on the accusation of racism which was so dramatically prominent on the Oprah interview.
He didn't say the word racism and neither did she. I think they are offering the ollve branch of "it was ignorance and stupid to say it", you just need to apologise for it

key points fo rme were:

1 - Clearly had PTSD from his mothers death and didn't really get the help he needed, bceause you know , stiff upper lip and all that.

2 - cocaine - he wanted to discuss how he was the victim of blackmail, which is a key point, and terrible from teh gutter press....but for me what it highlighted is that the privilege enjoyed by the royals comes with an unwritten agreement that they are the nations standard bearer for morality, they claim to be ceremonial, and that needs a whiter than white image. But as we have seen with Andrew, that's nonsense. It shows that DNA isn't a good way of selecting leadership, morality, and to be a figurehead. Shame the interviewer didn't pick up on that side of things.

3 - The whole "William was angry I was stepping on his turf with African charities". That highlighted how royals use "patronage" to charities for self promotion. If they actually cared abotu the charitable cause then surely they would welcome further help and exposure.

4 - Harry had to ask permission from the Queen to have a beard to get married. William said he couldn't have a beard.........utterly ludicrous to ask permission on your appearance on YOUR big day. The William argument against the beard sounded like it was about "control" over Harry

5 - Interhouse rivalries, the idea that the house of Charles and Camilla would put bad press out against his sons, or that the press office of William would do so against his brother is utterly appalling, but it's what happens. Shows how Machiavellian the whole system is.

6 - "I swear on mummies life" -- that's their relationship over right there. Again sounded like William wanting control over his younger brother, and using his dead mother as leverage in it. Appalling behaviour from William if true

7 - Silence allows abusers to abuse. Thats the key to why this interview, book, series happened. He felt abused, wanted to ensure the royals knew he would stand up for him and his wife and not let this abuse continue

8 - Court cases, 9 of them against the press. Shows how uncontrollable the press are int his country.

9 - the enemy of my enemy is my friend.

Yes that’s what I thought. They clearly want some acknowledgement that some of them need to wise up a bit without condemning them for racism.

I’d be interested to understand the demographics of those who are for/against Harry. Outside of the royalists who now hate him, are all these other people older brothers/younger brothers, have particular views about how a younger sibling should behave and what they should or shouldn’t put up with. It’s almost as if some people just think the lad shouldn’t be honest about stuff and just suck it all up whatever the consequence. Or is it purely generational? Cos pretty much everyone I know over the age of about 50 thinks he’s in the wrong, yet most people my age and younger don’t.

There seems to be an awful lot of middle aged white men who now don't like Harry which, to me, appears weird!

I don’t know any Middle Aged or older women who like him either. But they all think Meghan’s not “a lady” and that’s as much an issue as race or anything else I think.

Once this country gets over it’s pathetic class-based societal hierarchy we may achieve great things.

I always knew the deference some had for the royal family was a bit weird but this farce is showing it in an even stranger light.

I'm a bit surprised at the strength of feeling from the Royalists. It's very much blind loyalty isn't it? The overriding sentiment seems to be Harry shouldn't dare criticise the crown in public, it doesn't matter how legitimate or otherwise any of his claims may be.

Bit like Americans and their bizarre obsession with respecting a bit of cloth tied to a pole.

Patriotism for some is a funny old thing. Almost as if it trumps (no pun intended) everything else, right or wrong. Very backwards thinking in my mind and it allows some very unethical people to get away with a lot of stuff they shouldn't really be able to.

9 - the enemy of my enemy is my friend.
that can be a truism for many, but which actor is enemy 1, and which is enemy 2, and which is friend, take your pick in any order from Harry, william, Charles, Camilla, the press, the aristocrasy, the government, the public, decency, truth, lies, dignity, etc. etc.

The whole thing is a mess, and I feel bad for him in particular, he has been socially outcast by his family, despite having a seemingly unhappy existence, the one thing that seems to make him happy, his wife, is the one thing everyone is trying to publicly poison, including his step Mum, Dad and brother.

His family don't have to like Meghan, but they certainly need to accept that it's who he loves, and that it isn't their business who he chooses to live his life with. If they fear it'll fall apart and ruin him, then their job as family is to provide unconditional love and be there to pick him up, not to ostracise him for living his life.

Does the reference to a 'neckless' suggest a bit of female input to the book? Not sure a man would ever refer to a chain as a neckless!
I mentioned before that the necklace may not have been a chain and after having seen his interview with Stephen Colbert, that is confirmed. After having it repaired, he still wears the same necklace and showed it, when asked about the incident. It's a black leather or cord necklace, with metal pendants on it.

Ultimately, all I know is if someone can make the likes of Piers Morgan, Julia Hartley Brewer, Dan Wootton, Camillia Tominey, Jeremy Clarkson, Lawrence Fox, Sophie Corcoran, Kelvin MacKenzie, Nigel Farage, Carole Malone, Sarah Vine etc get so triggered that they spit bile down their microphones relentlessly for years, about someone they claim to have no interest in….then that person is probably someone I’d like.
I’d be on the opposite side of a debate to that lot every single time I reckon. Amazed at how many people who haven’t listened to what Harry and Meghan have said, because they just aren’t interested and wish they’d shut up, align themselves with that baying mob.

Best comment on the book I've heard so far, is it's like reading a 13 year olds diary
What exactly does a 13yr old's diary read like?

I`ve listened to many young children that have lost their parents and it`s harrowing how they have to deal with it.

Or do you mean the fictional diary of Adrian Mole?

Sounds like the type of necklace a douchebag would wear.

spot on, it's a very emotionally complex thing to deal with, particularly when it's a Mum because in our society they are the home's anchor point.

spot on, every single one of those hate Harry and are public about it. Every single one of them are deplorable grifters who aim to make a living over keeping the status quo of us poor and the rich rich.
