Cameron Archer

I'm not saying Connolly is going to have a glittering career.

I'm saying Balogun was never dropped for him, and that he played in the last 8 games.

Balogun was definitely the better player, but there's no need to make things up.
He knows what your saying. He’s just trying to deflect having been caught out 👍

Kind of agree with you. I've come to the conclusion that signings, managers or players, are to some extent a lottery because so many stars need to come into alignment for them to be successful beyond the talent and ability of the individual.
The way the TEAM is operating at the moment whoever comes in has to earn the right to play, they can't simply walk in as a starter. The situation needs careful management and I'm hopeful that MC can handle it.
The previous 2 seasons we've been in good shape entering the New Year but our January recruitment just seems to have destroyed our momentum with stuff that was working put aside in an effort to accommodate new players who simply haven't worked out.
Probably sounds a bit negative but based upon the last couple of January windows we actually seemed to go backwards, just don't want anything to disrupt what we have now! The last successful January signing was probably Gaston Ramirez

Anyone else think this is bonkers?

We have a goal scoring 20 year old that has been sent on loan to bristol rovers.... playing 14 games and scoring 8 so far...

We are being linked with a 21yo lad who has only done 6 games from the bench and hasnt scored.

We should be developing our own lads not loaning others to develop

Coburn is being developed, this lad was sent to the Championship to develop at Coburn's age. He's a year ahead, experience wise.

You should be looking at his Championship record with Preston not his PL one with Villa.

I admit I would have preferred Stewart, but he would have cost a lot.

So who from this team
do you think will make way for him?
From the looks of it, Crooks or Forss. I think Crooks is an excellent option in a physical game on a dire pitch like Birmingham away, but isn't mobile enough to play up top against quicker centre backs.

I think we should leave the attack after adding him. Muniz should be sent back - Hoppe maybe on loan.

And we currently are.

Coburn is on fire, in a good team, so why spoil it?

He's still learning and he's on a very good path at the moment.

To bring him back and stick him on the bench would be just ridiculous and putting a step back in his career.

Keep him at Bristol Rovers, where he's getting plenty of starts and game time and see what the second half of the season brings him.

It would be beyond stupid to recall him.

Not a dig at crooks, but its no surprise to me that Crooks looks far more effective in the 2nd half of games when the freshness and zip has gone out of the oppositions legs.

I'd drop Crooks, but he's an excellent option from the bench, or to start when playing teams like Rotherham or Millwall that have a team of 6ft 4" monsters and we need extra height.

One of my main criticisms of Balogun was the wide left starting position he used to take up. Not sure if that was his preference or coaching but, in a team that had a lot of possession, he often had much to do from out wide.
Balogun was great with when facing goal. When he had the ball played in to his feet with his back to goal we might as well just just give it back to the opposition.

I can't say I've seen much of Archer, but based on the buzz it appears a really encouraging addition.
I'm much happier than spending lots of money on Stewart.
Sad for Muniz who has ability and seemed to really want to come too. It is not working for him however.

I believe recruits need to be high quality players. Quality not quantity.

Matt Crooks has 6 goals and 4 assists despite playing through injury. Surely he has to be in this team? His goal involvements are matchwinners too.
He has much better touch and vision than he is given credit for by some.

Where do these new signings fit in, Carrick’s 4-4-2 plays more like 3-2-5 a e we to see a shift to a 4-2-3-1 that plays more like 4-2-4? Options are there for sure.

Steffen /Roberts

Smith/Dijksteel
Fry/McNair
Lenihan/Clarke
Giles/Bola

Barlaser/Howson
Hackney/Mowett

Forss/Jones
Akpom/Watmore
Archer/McGree

Crooks/Hoppe

Available shirt numbers.. 7,10,11,12,22

I’d fancy Cameron Archer to take the number 11 like Sporar, Fletcher, Hugill & Bamford before him. Fab!

Daniel Barlaser to don the number 7 like Tavernier, Leadbitter, Boateng, Mustoe.. wow.. feels like we’ve missed out bringing in key players this summer.

Then who? Shirt number would have me looking at Archer being the striker we have been after a straight replacement for Muniz and the left sided attacker to take the number 10 shirt like Payero, Browne, Braithwaite, De Peña.. Siriki Dembele on loan from Bournemouth ticks the boxes.

The fourth ‘maybe’ signing? a defensive midfielder? a right back? a central defender?
Cody Drameh seems unlikely but we would defo take him on a permenant transfer number number 12 Pogatetz, Quadrue, Fleming..

Fancy a number 22? a George Saville a Maulary Martin? I think it will be in Paddy McNair moves on a Sol Bamba, Kenneth Omeruo, a Ben Gibson.. I can’t see past Jan Paul Van Hecke from Brighton, out of contract in the summer, knows the boys, can play the part.

But then.. if Rodrigo Muniz does go elsewhere that number 9 shirt remains unregistered.. Fjortoft, Branca, Maccarone, Hasslebaink, Viduka. A deadline day swoop for Ross Stewart if Mowbray has all his ducks in a row and Ross still wants out.

One or two or three or four or five or six…three looks most likely and if we can get them over the line they will be improvements on what we already had. Proven Championship players with a minimal financial outlay. Sensible Soccer

Excellent to see. I'm glad we tried for a permanent deal at least.
I reckon that's Muniz gone now, I also think Mathew Hoppe could go out on loan
I'd be happy with Akpom, Archer, Forss and Watmore with potentially Hoppe as 5th choice.
That's a quality strike force especially if forss keeps up he recent from. I could see forss and archer with chuba behind. I don't want too many more signings if we could get a midfielder to replace mowatt or a wide right player to keep Jones on his toes that would be great. Only one or two more in for me and the mother of all collapses from Sheffield uniturd
