Good adviceMove near yr job so u don't have to spend hours/ £ commuting. Everywhere is beautiful or near somewhere nice. Seaside, moors etc. I guess being near Northallerton, Durham or Darlo station adds value.
Only the chippy on the High Street when I was a kid. Still there mind. And the best curry house in Teesside.
When you say you’ve moved back down south, are you talking about the south of France?Yeap I think so, one of the things we did notice was how much colder it is!
What about the Montpellier quarter of Harrogate where you once claimed to live ?Depending on what you're looking for, it might be worth having a look around Stockton. Somewhere like Hartburn might be a bit less expensive than Eaglescliffe. You'll also have Ropner park right on your doorstep which has recently been shortlisted as one of the best parks in the country. Another option if you like newer housing and greater energy efficiency is the recent development by the River Tees in Stockton. It will only be a short walk to the high street and the location will be good for walking/jogging along the river. Darlington would be also worth a look.
Obviously Ingleby Barwick is popular with some, but it's just one of those places that lacks any sort of inspiration. It's a housing estate that you drive to and from. That's the one thing you'd always notice about the place, despite the many thousands of people living there, you'd never see anyone walking around. That might have changed if there's more amenities now. But there always was pubs and shops there.
Only advice I can offer is don't live north of the river, it's just wrong.I am moving back to the area and was hoping to get some feedback on here regarding places to avoid moving to. I lived for a lot of years in the Eaglescliffe area and always found it ok there. Low crime and anti social behaviour but there is very little available here to buy in my pricerange.
I have been looking in the Marton area around the shops on stokesley road and acklam around acklam hall. Any views on these areas or any other recommended areas would be appreciated.
What an absolute crock of **** that comment is.you'd never see anyone walking around.
I think IB has a lot of things going for itOne thing I don’t understand is the snobbery and reverse snobbery arguments that surround Ingleby.
Lots of people who don’t live there seem to have a chip on their shoulder with those that do, throwing the old “spam city” “two cars on the drive no food in the fridge” comments.
Then on the flip side of that there’s lots who live there who for some reason think that it’s something other than a larger version of the modern estates that every town in our region has nowadays.
