Alex Neil off to Stoke....

Sunderland are absolutely a bigger club than Stoke but as I’ve said multiple times on here, size of club is the most overrated thing in football.

Makes me laugh when fans can’t get their head around players/managers leaving for “smaller” clubs, like Tav to Bournemouth.

Mind you if I was a Sunderland fan I’d encourage all my mates to put money on Chris Wilder going to Sunderland then get the beers for a night in watching Boro message boards going into meltdown.😀

Gut feeling this won’t end well for Stoke 😄

If Sunderland get dyche Itl probably be a huge bonus for them and result in a better finish than they would of

Sunderland are certainly a bigger better club with currently a better squad than Stoke - seems a strange move by AN, as he has less than a week to get anyone else in so will largely be stuck with players who have been absolute gash since the last third of last season.

I can't think of any way you can measure the size of a club that would come to the conclusion Stoke are a bigger club than Sunderland.

It's the only basis on which players and managers choose which club to join.
Everyone knows that.
Therefore, if Neil chooses to join Stoke, Stoke must be the larger club.

Or maybe size of club and past achievements aren't important at all?

Either way, Sunderland fans are going to have to swallow a truth they won't like.

To be fair sunderland are a bigger club than stoke but im not sure how much ghat really matters to any incoming manager. I would imagine the biggest factor in any managers mind would be what he believes he can achieve at the two clubs. Which club have the better squad, financially which club have the most resources available ect.

Exactly.
Future is far more valuable to incomers than history.

not only does he have 6 days to sort the Stoke squad out if he goes, but, they've already used all their loan signings and can't go splashing the cash without serious FFP risk. Seems a mad time to go and join them.

When I look at the Stoke squad, I don't see that they are under performing either. They've got some decent enough options at the top end of the pitch, but they look defensively poor to me. It's a very heavy youth based squad as well, half the squad is 22 or under. Think they will lack resilience away from home and consistency overall
