For a player any decision between us and Stoke would come down to wages, thats all. Seems like we just dont want to pay a lot. Fair enough but we may have to wait a bit longer for success.
I would imagine we'll make a few last minute signings. Some of these clubs who are holding out for big fee's will find themselves in a now or never position in the hours leading up to the window closing. Its all good and well holding firm for a higher fee when there is still a week left of the the transfer window but when it becomes clear that they will be stuck with an unhappy player unless they accept a lower offer thats a different situation all together. It's been mentioned numerous times over recent weeks by Wilder in press conferences that Boro will not be paying over the odds or more for players in fees and wages than what we believe they are worth.
All of these approaches for players we've heard about this summer.. reading between the lines, it seems Boro have walked away from because the selling club, player and/or agent are taking the ****.
Over recent years Boro have always had to 'go a bit more' to get players up here, to swing the balance of negotiations in our favour, and we've had our fingers burned. Seems we aren't going to be doing it anymore and are going down a more sustainable/grow your own/invest in prospects/find a hidden gem route.

Crawl back under your rock“Always backs his managers”
I think Stoke have been chasing his transfer most of the summer, worth it interest coming at the eleventh hour. Why would he want to go to Stoke, other than location purposes, having been at west brom and derby.
FFS even Aden Flint, another new signing, can't get in team ahead of Jageilka
I get it, and I dont necessarily disagree - but you pay a price. You have to buy less experienced players and develop them, that takes time, so it could be we are still a few years away from a squad that can really challengeIt's been mentioned numerous times over recent weeks by Wilder in press conferences that Boro will not be paying over the odds or more for players in fees and wages than what we believe they are worth.

True, I'm ok with winning games in the championship and going up when ready vs going up right away and coming straight back down like many do. Promotion is great but if be happier building a cohesive sideI get it, and I dont necessarily disagree - but you pay a price. It's irrelevant if FFP stop them pumping more money inTheir owners are billionaires, ours is only a millionaire.
Agree. They seem to be able to find a way. I’m amazed at how much ForestIt's irrelevant if FFP stop them pumping more money in
no there is mroe than just the immediate wage, there is chance of promotion, relationship with manager, club philosophy etc.For a player any decision between us and Stoke would come down to wages, thats all.
McNair was indeed OK at LCB.I'm not overly fussed with this TBH, the same as I wasn't with Greaves. I would be happy if we did sign them, but alos not going to lose sleep over it. Part of me thinks that if these players were that good, then others would be in for them, (and not just Stoke in Clarke's case). Guess we don't know if there are, and suppose you could also say the same for Muniz, Hoppe, Mowatt etc.
The answer to the LCB, at present is McNair, in my opinion. He was more than fine there last season and because Wilder now has this reluctance to play him there we are having to shoe horn him into midfield, where he is a lot less effective.
Different rules in the prem, plus if they've spent 130m on players on 4 year contracts, then that's 'only' 32m a season amortised. If they get relegated they could handle that for 2 years, but would need to sell to buy. If they go down and fail to go back up in 2 seasons, the parachute money will be drying up and they will need a firesale.Agree. They seem to be able to find a way. I’m amazed at how much Forest
have been able to spend this season
