I worked there briefly in my youth. I used to walk to work from my bedsit in Yarm Rd, Stockton, saving the bus fare allowance to bolster my £29 per week wages. Sacked for persistent lateness. Really hard to gauge your walking speed over that distance...
Worked in Hamilton's (Newhouses) too. Not sacked from there...As mentioned, Fearnley’s. He lives just round the corner from me btw…80 years young.

Can you tell him thank you. He sold me my first adult bike in 1984. In the intervening 38 years I've owned many bikes; stolen, broken, repaired, restored, bought and sold. It is one of the 5 that remain and, despite a dent in the top tube, it's still fully functional and one of my favourites.
