Name a shop that is closed in Teesside that you love to bring back.

As mentioned, Fearnley’s. He lives just round the corner from me btw…80 years young.
Hamilton’s music shop.
Tony’s Records in Redcar.
Mrs Johnson’s toy shop in Marske
The Candy Box in Marske.

My first thought was Game, loved that shop as a nipper. Buying terrible games on cassette for the old Amstrad, then waiting 15m for it to load.🤣. But just looked it up and apparently its still open 😲.
It's part of sports direct now so usually just a section in there

Used to love it, and Chips and Gamesworld before it.

Does anyone remember Deans in Bishopton Lane Stockton? {It was an old fashioned toy shop late 50's -60's)) I used to get off the No 8 bus in the high street and run round the corner just to look in the window especially at the Hornby Dublo stuff! It sold cycles and fireworks as well. Ah memories!

There used to be a place you went to race your Scalextric cars in the Boro, I think it was where the Cleveland Centre is now, My cousin used to take me. Anyone remember the name of the street?

Record Mart and Austin’s… used to work over the road from Austin’s, spent a fortune in there, as well as Fearnleys

From my younger days, Chips in Stockton, they had Commodore 64’s and speccys set up so you could try games out 👍🏻

I was just going to say Chips although I'd always go in the Middlesbrough one. Up the dark dingy staircase into a tiny little attic room and you could hang around watching the older kids playing on the two big arcade machines they had in there. As well as buy some games if you'd saved enough pennies.

What was that hippy shop in Linthorpe in the 70s? Oz magazine, patchouli oil, joss sticks and all that. A mysterious, exotic hippy heaven. Can’t think what it was called though

Was it actual food poisoning involving doctors and an HSE investigation?
Or did you just get the sh1ts?
No doctors, it was just violently vomiting and a severe case of the trots.

It was an Easter weekend and I was working away until the Saturday afternoon. We went Pyrgi’s after it was recommended to us for an evening meal on the Saturday. I must confess, it was lovely and the only meal the both of us had the same prior to being poorly.

The Easter Sunday, we got up, had cereal for breakfast and went to York for the day. I had just paid for parking and the wife said she didn’t feel well. We walked into York and reach Lendl Bridge when she was first sick. We headed back to the car and she was sick another four times in the park next to the river. This continued on all the way home. Nappy sacks are useful thing.

When we got home, the wife went to bed and I went to the pub. We use to have the mother in law live with us then and was an handy live in babysitter.

Around 10pm, I started to feel unwell and had to dash to the Cleveland Inn toilets. Only a desperate man would use these. I headed home and was sick a few times on the way. Both of us ended up in bed vomiting and sh1ting until the Tuesday.

I am sorry you don’t believe me, but it’s a bit difficult to get a doctors note now. 😜

A few choices for me, Geordie Jeans and the and the Great American Soda Bar!
Great American Soda Bar is a brilliant shout. After we’d Leo Ed away from the area we’d come up to visit and our Gran would always take us to the soda bar. I’d always show off about when I got back home to my mates

Who can remember all the punks hanging about outside the HMV in Stockton High St?
I remember the punks were really intimidating to me as a kid

I remember topsoft off the highstreet in stockton good set of lads in the shop

Colin Armstrong, is my Uncle
Can you tell him thank you. He sold me my first adult bike in 1984. In the intervening 38 years I've owned many bikes; stolen, broken, repaired, restored, bought and sold. It is one of the 5 that remain and, despite a dent in the top tube, it's still fully functional and one of my favourites.
