The Hot Weather Madness

I’d be interested to know how long it takes 10,000 trees to store the carbon an aeroplane flying for 4 hours takes

Island by Alduous Huxley (1962) is a good book to read about why the world should limit child birth and just be happy with what we have.
Think this is happening a lot in developing nations as access to education and birth control becomes more prevalent. Developed nations seek to have falling birth rates as well. Global fertility rate in 2019 was half what it was in 1950.

People look at us like we are mad when we say we don't want kids , it's so ingrained in society.

Yeah, the fertility rate in the uk is already below two (about 1.7 I think), so we don't have enough people being born to keep the population stable if it carries on like this.

I think the fertility rate for the UK peaked at 3 in the 60's/ 70's, the population boom was largely guaranteed by that, it was above 2 from 1945 to 1975.

It's too expensive for a lot of people to have kids, and have the life they want, if they want to get on the property ladder too and have a career etc, and if they do have them, they have them older, so run out of time to clock up having 3/4/5 kids, to drag that average up.

My chickens are doing ok, it is 38.5 inside their coop.. water spray on to cool them down. 3 cats are doing well.

The look one peoples faces when you explain you couldn't think of anything worse than kids.

The look is easily explainable. Something just switches inside of which you can’t explain

That said people should be more self aware and respect other choices in life. Kids aren’t for everyone, not everyone can have them and it’s about understanding that some people just don’t want to have children.

There is no right or wrong choice on that front

Little bit more fear porn for those that thought the hottest day on record was all just a load of old fuss over nothing-

Yup, and we've only broken the previous record by about 1.5 degrees, and broke it at over 29 weather station locations today (which pretty much means most of England has had it's hottest day in over 2000 years, probably by some considerable distance).

My fiancée gets proper ***ed off with it, we get asked about it all the time. It doesn’t bother me too much because I tend to find it quite funny that people think you’re crazy for not having kids. She feels like she shouldn’t have to constantly answer the same questions about it and that it’s nobody else’s business in the first place.

I think it will start to become more normalised and won’t be an expectation.

When we look after our nieces/nephews we usually get asked whether looking after them made us want our own, I’m not brutal enough to tell them that it made me want them even less, I like being able to hand them back the next day 😂

I have two. Love em to bits and wouldn't change it for the world.

But I'd be lying if I said I couldn't see the attraction in not having any.

Wouldn't cross my mind to query anyone on that choice, the benefits are obvious (not to mention the fact the worst thing anyone could do is have kids if they weren't sure they even wanted them).

I just had to take a couple of spray cans out of my shed that were hot to the touch and water them down to cool them off a bit, don't want them exploding!

We should certainly be limiting to 2 children per family max. But, that will stop our economic model.

All natural and technological processes
Proceed in such a way that the availability
Of the remaining energy decreases
In all energy exchanges, if no energy
Enters or leaves an isolated system
The entropy of that system increases
Energy continuously flows from being
Concentrated to becoming dispersed
Spread out, wasted and useless
New energy cannot be created and high grade
Energy is being destroyed
An economy based on endless growth is un-
(Unsustainable)
The fundamental laws of thermodynamics will
Place fixed limits on technological innovation
And human advancement
In an isolated system, the entropy
Can only increase
A species set on endless growth is un-
(Unsustainable)

How do you stop people having more than two children?

I've got three.

I'd be a lot wealthier without them, that's for sure :ROFLMAO:
