The Hot Weather Madness

Ah so you’re admitting the changes are not really noticeable 😃
😂

btw did you know the months between April and October last year was the coldest recorded in Antarctica

….sort of. As with so many of these type of info, context is the key. Please read this -

Have you ever considered that’s it you who might be the one who’s been manipulated 😁
Fabio doesn't work like that.

Haven't you heard? He's the oracle of all things climate related and covid related and an international finance expert and a guru when it comes to American presidents. His news is the only news that counts.

😎

Back on topic. Whilst not really a fan of working in the heat I do enjoy the time outside when I'm not. It's a rare treat in this windy, rainy, cold and miserable climate.

Me too - we get 97% ***** weather here for the most part an when we get the odd few days sun everything goes mental 😆

Ignore the numbers. That's not the point of the picture.
That’s what a weather map is, red indicates hot which is what 40 degrees is. Not really sure what else it’s meant to show. The picture was trying to indicate 26 degrees was shown as extreme heat by the media which it wasn’t, someone’s changed the picture to make it look like that, just the standard right wing lies and misinformation which is found all over Twitter especially on those accounts

Yes it’s interesting they’re now using the red warning pictures as some kind of terror alert - we’ll no doubt moaning it’s píssing down in a fortnight 😵‍💫

For me whether it is media hype or not I really don't know. All I know is I haven't experienced the kind of predicted heat and where I am just outside of London I would think will be one of the hottest places in the country so I will be cautious as I have young children including a 10 month old, I have ordered some thermal black-out curtains and will be concentrating on getting plenty of fluids and ice lollies into the kids. What I do know though is the average body temperature is between 36-37c a fever is over 38c and a high fever which causes seizures and hallucinations is around 40c, I'm not a medical expert and don't have extensive knowledge on human biology, but common sense tells me that if temperatures are that high for a prolonged period then it will have some effect on body temperatures especially in the very young, people with certain health conditions or the elderly, and it doesn't take a huge change in body temperature to go from normal temperature to dangerously high. My daughter when she was about a year old had a body temp of 39c and she was hallucinating dhe ended up in hospital for 5 days. An average healthy adult shouldn't have too much of a problem as the body should be able to regulate the body temperature and deal with it but there is a large % of the population who are not quite as able to regulate body temperature as easy and its this that concerns me more. 25c is a lovely summer day 32c is draining and uncomfortable, 40c I don't know what it feels like yet but it's doesn't sound appealing to me.

I’m predicting their predictions will be over hyped - fear of anything is the new rock n roll though apparently

I’m just not as gullible as some 😁 be honest, if you didn’t have access to tv, radio and news outlets would you really think there was much difference between now and when you were born ? I’ve seen droughts, big freezes, floods, the lot, they come an go - i remember in the 70’s when they started with all this they called it “global warming” then they altered it to “climate change” to cover all bases (very clever that one) we aren’t going to change anything no matter what we do - i say we party on dude 😁

Even if we didn't have TV to report it, there'd still be shrinking ice caps for polar bears. There'd still be more floods and wildfires than we've ever seen. There'd still be 7 of the 10 hottest years ever recorded within the last decade. There'd still be sea levels rising at the fastest rate ever. And we'd still be racing headlong towards a future where large parts of the planet are simply uninhabitable for future generations.

But yeah...you party on....

I will 👍🏻 They’ve been going on about this for the best part of 50 years - if they were so concerned about it why didn’t they do something about it in the 1970’s an stop fossil fuel use then before we got to our now apparent “crisis point”

So because people didn't do anything before, we don't bother doing anything now?

What do you mean by anything ? We could get to net zero carbon and have no impact whatsoever - then what ? In the mean time we all suffer financially, higher taxes, worse public services, worse health care, as we pick up the bill for the cost of net zero carbon

That's just a lazy way to justify selfishness.

It might not work so no point trying, that's the best you can do for a problem that will be catastrophic to the future of mankind if we do nothing?

I’m looking at tomorrows temps of 25 and thinking ah that’s cool when any other summer that would likely be our hottest day of the year up here.

Is "fúck the future" the best people can do?
Jesus, I wish I was as enlightened as some on here profess to be.
Ignorance doesn't cut it I'm afraid. Sheer bloody arrogance is far more appropriate for some of the ***** being peddled on here today.

Well firstly we don’t know it will be catastrophic, and secondly isn’t causing poverty, poor health care and all the social implications that go with it also catastrophic
