Spence just completed Spurs medical

You can only get what the market dictates ffs, some right negociators on here!!!!
Agreed especially when Spence indicated he wanted to go to Spurs - why would other clubs waste their time expressing an interest.

Without other clubs in for him there is no chance of pushing the price up in a bidding war.

Who is complaining or bashing the club? What did the Williams transfer to Forest amount to? £18 or £19m?

Spence won a spot in Championship team of the season in the same position and league as Williams played in, yet Williams has gone for a bigger fee.

I'm not having a pop at the club, it's just the way circumstances have presented themselves, but it's left us with a lesser fee than most think we should have got.
Big difference in that Liverpool weren't desperate to sell and Williams wasn't desperate to leave. It is public knowledge that Spence wouldn't be playing for us next season because he didn't want to be here and neither did we so his value is lower because of that.

What exactly is going on here? Are you looking for an argument?

In no way am I having a go at the club. Like I had said, it's just the way circumstances have presented themselves. It's unfortunate. Perhaps if Spence hadn't been so set on alienating himself from clubs other than Spurs, we might have got more. It's frustration more than anything.

Despite all that I'm just pleased we've manged to shift him on.

Poor when you think of the prices other players have gone for from this league. Best RWB in the league last season plus England u21 appearances, would have thought we would have got far more

At least it’s money we clearly desperately need to start the rebuild and it gives us a good few weeks to get players in, fully expected this to drag on till deadline day

It depends on what the add ons are. If there's a pretty solid chance of picking up a few more million then it's not "poor" at all. Plus we may have got what we wanted in terms of upfront payment etc. Too many unknowns to judge really

I haven't really been keeping up to date with the whole saga to be honest, was the delay down to Levy being unwilling to pay the £15m?

I'm surprised we didn't tell Spurs to do one to be honest and just offered Forest the chance to sign him for £15m, but I'm assuming the issue was that Spence had his heart set on the Spurs move?

Either way, the main thing is he's gone and hopefully we will see some movement regarding incomings.

Very true. 12 million should be enough to get the players we want this summer too which is the most important thing

Who's to say Forest would pay that? And would they have agreed to add ons etc? We've got a deal that could rise beyond £15m off 5he only club to offer anything concrete

If Walker retires at City and they sign Spence for £50+ million it will seem like a low price

🤦‍♂️
They won’t, city like their full backs to be able to defend, Spence can’t do that his positional play is poor, he’s good when it’s a pace or skill issue and someone’s running directly at him with the ball but his awareness is awful when it comes to tracking runners off the ball.

I'm sure I read somewhere that Forest were willing to pay the £15m but I could be wrong.

Let's face it, we all know he's not very good. Certainly not 20 million good. We've got at least 7 million more than what he's worth. There have been loads of clubs linked with him, but it seems even Forest didn't bother bidding. Probably because having had him for a season they can see how flawed he is.
He can run at players when given space the rest of his game is average. As a fullback he's not good enough defensively. As a winger he's got no tricks in his box. He can't beat a man from a standing start and struggles to get a yard for a cross.
His agent has clearly been doing a lot of work. Who knows he may do well at spurs. Conte loves a counterattack. I mean he came to the Riverside as a premier League team with a game plan to play on the counter. That's Spence's game really. Tight spaces - rubbish, running at pace good.

Considering we got less for Bamford, Tomlin, Ramirez (I think), stuani, nsue and adomah, we got a very very good deal.
