It's £30k a year full time CtC.
What do you give a supermarket manager when the till operator earns more than you?
So someone working in a shop or flipping burgers should be getting £15 per hour.
Yes, when they are so low to begin with.Wages should inflate 50% in 4-5 years?
That was said by the right wing Tories in 1997.All very good , but totally unworkable , if min wage goes to that overnight , what on earth are the costs ?, all good for Andy M to say this ,but i get the feeling he is aligning ready with Rayner to take control ?
Nothing at all which is why you took a small piece of my quote and not all of it. Do you really think a cleaner should get the same wages as a High dependency nurse or anyone who has to train hard getting poor wages when you train and running up debt to get a degree to qualify. Or do you think people who do this don't deserve to earn more money from their hard work than someone doing a job with little responsibility or qualifications.?Very odd sentiment that some people have. You both seem like you want people to be hard up as some kind of punishment? What's so bad about super market or burger restaurant staff?

Then if you‘re the supermarket manager you ask for a wage rise and lo and behold you reverse the race to the bottom……simples!!It's £30k a year full time CtC.

I'm all for aspiration but to go from £8.91 to £15 is extreme.
Unlike now then?even if it did it would just cause hyper inflation and the cost of everything would have to go up to cover the difference.
You just don’t get it do you, where has anybody in the Labour party or on here said a “NURSE” should only get £15 an hour?Nothing at all which is why you took a small piece of my quote and not all of it. Do you remember the days of Family Credit? - I worked with semi skilled people on an electronics production line getting £2/hour in 1993 (before tax). If they had several kids and their partner did not work they ended up with more in Family credit as wages. FC was paid by the government. I felt employers who paid little were getting big subsidies. It was not good for the worker who felt undervalued by his/her employer. One thing is for sure with uc the tax payer is essentially subsidising corporate profits which can't be right.
It must be a great world you live in.Then if you‘re the supermarket manager you ask for a wage rise and lo and behold you reverse the race to the bottom……simples!!
And I thought that was the reason the guy resigned as he thought starter was a hypocrite.By the way Starmer was in favour at one point..
Are you suggesting he should lie to get into power? That was during the leadership elections, you can't expect him to say the same now.
Tories lie constantly especially our PM. He lied before Brexit, he lied when we was in various roles and in fact was sacked on a couple of occasions for lying. He lied during the 2019 GE campaign and has repeatedly lied since too.Are you suggesting he should lie to get into power?
He wasn't.Are you suggesting he should lie to get into power?
So what was he suggesting? He wasn't.
