First weekend that the sprint race for qualifying positions will be ran. I really hope it works as it has the potential to really shake up the grid on a Sunday, especially with points for the top 3 finishers. 17 laps of madness I can't wait.
 
Sprint race feels a bit pointless in these cars, overtaking will be difficult with everyone on the same tyres.

Heading down to silverstone tonight, really cant wait for it

I think the sprint race aspect will be really interesting, should let the drivers race instead of managing tyres and temps. Look out for Alonso, Vettel and Danny Ric making moves.
 
so i take it the sprint race will be no pit stops then? no tyre changing. will be interesting
 
I still think they should have played with Reverse Grids somewhat .. maybe Quali tonight defining the two grids .. Reverse grid in the sprint race and normal on Sunday .. Would have got some right proper action in the sprint race then .. but all that's going to happen in the sprint race (as well as the main on Sunday??) is Lewis and Max shoot off into the distance ...
 
Surely it's an absolute no brainer now that Russell races for Mercedes next season.

He absolutely drives the **** off of that Williams, compare his qualifying performances to those of Latifi in identical cars. Currently 1 second off of Hamilton.1 second!

This top 10 shoot out will have some surprises for sure.
 
What a drive by Russell! I wonder how close to a done deal the Mercedes drive is?

I was listening to the f1 nation podcast this week and he was interviewed. They picked up on the fact that he seemed to suggest he’d be challenging for the title next year. And he ain’t going to be doing that in a Williams!

Definitely a done deal. They'd be crazy not to have him signed up already.

Although I did read a bonkers rumour that McLaren might be sniffing round him too.

To replace Lando? The Lando / Lewis asskissing stuff is really weird. I guess Lewis would prefer him at Merc

Nope the rumour is if Danny Ric doesn't improve by the end of September, McLaren will cut their losses and move for Russell. I was told by a mate that talks have already happened.
'British' team with two very talented British drivers with a car that's improving all the time is a PR rep's wet dream.

That is interesting. I wonder what the Lewis Lando lovefest is all about then? They keep bigging each other up. I thought it was to Lewis trying to get Lando to join Merc
