Ye as long as there is evidence that the vaccines work against the variant there should be no reason to stop the roadmap.

I read through the professor's thread and it did sort of make sense why she was suggesting just extending stage 2 by a few weeks. I know it seems 'small' but we really could do with some decent weather that keeps people outdoors.

Surely the last few months have shown it’s not as straightforward as a yes or no answer if the vaccine works

Of course it is.

Indian variant of the Chinese virus found in a care home. Infected I think 18 residents, who had been vaccinated, none required hospital treatment and none of them died.

The vaccine works.

The news are calling all the variants by country's names so what's the difference?

You can't have it both ways.
I'll stop calling it that when people stop calling variants 👍🏻

If your reasoning is that the named variants originated in the country they were found then fine. Let's start calling the variants by the proper names like we do with covid-19 etc.

Because Trump was the one who started this whole Chinese virus thing. He was the one who legitimised the racism. Shame on you for maintaining it

Of course it works to an extent, but we don’t know to what extent it works against different variants, or the level of protection it offers to those who are ill or with compromised immune systems. Signs are good so far but it’s never going to completely fix the problem
 
Didn’t Johnson unsurprisingly delay stopping flights from India and putting them on the red list, he seems to think he has to give everyone a weeks notice for some strange reason.

I drove past a boarded-up nail salon today - Chinese owned or at least the girls who work there will be Asian. There are now TV and radio ads here to try and stop the senseless attacks on Asians. All caused by Trump's racist remarks.
