This meeting with Gibson

For one have the clubs kit available to buy year round. The amount of lost sales having no stock for majority of the year is ridiculous

Then I do feel the club need to show behind the scenes more even maybe go to a streaming company and create a documentary like Wrexham and Sunderland have done build up the global fan base etc.

The club have to be alot more commercially aware.
This is so true, a lot of things around the club do seem a bit amateurish and small time, apart for the ticket prices of course, that is big league.

Yeah but he offsets the MFC losses against his bulkhaul tax so he’s quids in.

It’s a genius move. In fact, he should just run bulkhaul at a loss as well, then he wouldn’t have to pay any tax at all.

We will set a thread for questions about the club kits and MFC Retail merch tomorrow or Friday - then you can ask and we can hear the answers. But I doubt sales would plug the £20 m gap plugged per year by Steve Gibson. It is an amazing amount.

Not really.

it was a 3 hour meeting. There’s bound to be stuff the club didn’t want published.

Eg -

“Why didn’t we sign a striker in Jan?”

“Well we agreed a £5m fee with x club for x player, but his agent was asking for £20k a week for his player which we didn’t think was realistic.”

Gibson might tell the meeting that info off the record, but he probably wouldn’t want it in the public domain for a variety of reasons
I understand your reasoning but would have to ask what then, is the purpose of the meeting?
Why are only a handful of people privy to a 3 hour discussion on our club, without sharing the vast majority of the topics and responses?...when they say they are fan representatives?
You have selected probably the most sensitive topic in terms of shared content, but I struggle to think of many others?
I may be jumping the gun and detail may be forthcoming soon - if so then great.

@fmttmadmin can you answer about the meeting 2 weeks ago and when/if anything more will be released about last night.
Oh yes. I didn't really know why we had been called in but it seems they had just decided on the early bird prices but didn't say when they were being announced or how long they would give people to pay.
One thing we keep on saying to the club is let us minute these meetings as we were previously. I will ask Mark as he made some notes and will publish them here. We were taken by surprise by the renewals coming out the next week and nothing ever got published. Didn't expect another meeting last night and several calls between us and the club last week.
Will see if we can put out some notes from the meeting. I didn't take any.
If he is shotting that in without even blinking, why is he even bothering with the increases, he clearly doesn’t need them, there is a tipping point for people in this region and we are clearly very close to that.
And you are certain he isn't at a tipping point himself?

Thanks for the updates Rob - having read through this thread and the response you get from some members, just know that there a lot of us appreciate you trying to do the right thing and put across the voice of the fan to the club.

From what has been said, what we really needed with the season ticket renewal was an open letter from Gibson reaffirming this commitment and ambition for the club, explaining that the increase is required to keep the club competitive, and thanking everyone of the fans for their continued support.

Next year, send a survey to fans in November/December, bring in the MSF and have a more honest approach about the money.

From now on 😂

RF achieved more in a few days than MSF ever have. Why would they need to work with the other groups? Who as far as I can tell, don’t do anything other than tow the party line.

It’s no surprise Rob & Dana are against it because what RF are achieving goes against the club & Gibson. And they’re in the circle.

wrong again. firstly, i’ve been to ONE meeting with the club and it was an introductory one - i’m barely in the circle. i am against the price rises, i don’t agree with them at all. what i don’t like is misrepresentation, and this is the issue i have here.

red faction have been incredibly important, they really have, but i also know that members of MSF have really tried. they’ve pushed and have put forward their views, concerns and ideas to MFC. at the end of the day, it’s not up to them to implement them - it’s up to the club, so i take issue with this idea that the fan reps are useless. they’re not, at all. people want someone to blame for this mess, but it’s not MSF.

i do think communication after meetings could be improved. we need to move away from it being a closed shop type thing. i hope people can appreciate that not EVERYTHING can be reported after these discussions, but less ambiguity would reduce these unfortunate and quite disheartening narratives imo

Because sometimes things will have to be said off the record to substantiate / back up a point being made.

It’s got to be better than an answer like “we tried for a striker in Jan, but couldn’t make it work”

Sorry - I have had a ridiculous day - erm Captain Cook Museum, signing legal stuff, some unbelievable stuff today.
Gibson is so passionate about the club it is not true - you first have to know that. And about the fans and the area. Ask any of the supporters in that meeting. And I mean any of them.
I feel exhausted and very down today. Because we came out of that meeting hopeful that we could be more united again as fans. And as fans and club. Everyone agreed on that.
Hi Rob , do you feel exhausted and down by the small gesture to u18 fans , but no movement with other issues ?
3hrs is a long meeting so I guess a lot was discussed , I hope they share the u18 gesture out to everyone else , we all want what's best for the club , and they need to get all ages on board not just u18.
Make the fans feel part of the club , the feel good factor wins and brings in fans and money .

Last night was debate and argument about prices. Lots of stats from the club and some real passion from the chairman. Equal passion from the fans. And I am not going to divide up between RF and the Forum because it simply did not work that way. Am hoping we can get some of this info published. Or an interview about it. It is all in the accounts of course but you need to be an accountant don't you. And I am not.
Anyway, there was a long time deciding on where we could get to at the end of the meeting. What could we say. In the end it was decided we should issue a joint statement. I know some of the fans wanted the club to make the running but others and the club really wanted it to be joint. And that was the way around it was as well.
I managed to miss the club statement today. But we would like some of the points Steve Gibson made to come out.
In truth I think everyone is slightly drained now.

No. I think that is a great thing for fans. It really is and the longer time to pay the renewal too. Don't forget that.
Football is getting crazier money wise every year but we all want so much to stay in there competing with Leicester, beating Leicester. It means so much to us. The older ones among us looked into the abyss in 1986 - I don't to go there again.

The reason early birds are so early - we found that out - at our level clubs with the earliest renewals literally have the cash available to bid for the transfers right at the start of the window.
