I spoke with the Boro Chief Executive today about the Sunderland chants. He understood how offensive this is. The club should be making contact with Sunderland.Rob's taken it on board now, so be interesting to be informed of what happens next.
Cheers Rob. There's never an easy solution. Thanks for taking the timeI spoke with the Boro Chief Executive today about the Sunderland chants. He understood how offensive this is. The club should be making contact with Sunderland.
If our fans had been on it like Chelsea.. no one would have heard them. If our team had not conceded.. no one would have cared.I think these things will just gradually die out.
Like has been said above, it’s not the same as racism in the stands. Calling Boro fans paedos, or us calling any southern team a town full of rent boys - it’s not directed at individuals and I don’t imagine any individual takes it personally. It’ll just be one of those things that dies a death over the next 5 years
As a club we have been officially admonished from the FA over the rent boy chants and can be fined. We have to explain what actions are taken to prevent the chantingI think these things will just gradually die out.

Not persuaded by any of that to be honest, it's either right or wrong and suggesting that some behaviour should be tolerated more because it's less wrong is a flimsy arguement.Excellent whataboutery - you simply can’t compare singing about Adam Johnson (a convicted sex offender) to them lot singing about the whole population of Middlesbrough, who aren’t convicted sex offenders. I’m not condoning the stupid retaliatory behaviour of some Boro fans singing these daft songs btw - they should not react as it’s just going down to the mackems level but you can see why it happens. It only started with our fans after the Adam Johnson revelations came to light whereas the mackems have been doing this since the 80’s. Personally i would just ban them from the stadium and if they do the same to us then so be it. It’s never going to stop because there are no consequences for those doing it.
stop any allocation until it stopsIt's Middlesbrough vs Sunderland.. you're not going to get the away fans throwing rose petals onto the pitch and singing lullabies.
Sunderland fans are tvvats.. keep their allocation to the bare minimum and get the boro crowd to drown them out.
Almost 40 years has passed since the Wyatt and Higgs child sexual abuse fiasco. It has been proven to be a totally flawed process and both doctors involved were discredited for their "assumptions" which caused the hurt and heartache for many innocent families.I think these things will just gradually die out.

sounds like the wrong one got banned. If someone seen a kid with their parent and their first thought was child abuse there is something seriously lacking in their tiny little brainWe were once goaded by a group of geordies from the City Centre up to St James's park where they were constantly calling us kiddy fiddlers. Went on for a good 10-15 mins where eventually my mate warned them if they said one more time he was gonna "take his head clean off".
Anyway, at this point the offending geordie pointed at a child who was walking past with his dad, probably about 7 year old, and started going "ooooo, I bet you'd love a go of him wouldn't ya".
It was too far. Concluded with my mate following through his threat and dropping this lad with one good solid right and got a 2 year banning order for his troubles,
It genuinely makes me sick that they get away with this crap.
Surely then, the same should apply to Sunderland. As a club we have been officially admonished from the FA over the rent boy chants and can be fined. We have to explain what actions are taken to prevent the chanting
No, two totally different things. There will be abuse victims in the crowd, home and away end. I doubt there was any mackems still traumatised from the time they were set alight by a Teessider. Having said that, knowing what Ayresome Park was like, I couldn't be sure .It's a difficult one this, how to determine when a line has been crossed.
Personally I hate the fact that some of our fans chant about wanting to burn all Geordies and Mackems, as was heard on Sunday.
Is that on a par with the paedo chants that were sang by Sunderland fans? It might well be.
You can’t stereotype every Sunderland fan because you work with some idiots. Idiots are idiots regardless of who they “support”.Sunderland fans aren’t the brightest and among the most horrible people I have worked with. After we beat them a few years ago (Stuani scored) I gave one lad I worked with some ribbing on WhatsApp his only response was “you sleep with your kids”.
Yeah, not all of them are idiots. You can’t stereotype every Sunderland fan because you work with some idiots. Idiots are idiots regardless of who they “support”.
It’s like a Sunderland fan saying every Boro fan is a scumbag because that Julie cretin and her idiot mates ripped up the Koran at Birmingham a while back.
Come off mate, it’s been nearly 40 years and it’s as bad as ever - they will never stop doing it unless action is taken. And actually it is targeted at individuals as well outside the ground. I’d just ban them from the ground an be done with it nowI think these things will just gradually die out.

I wonder how Leeds fans would describe our fans given the Saville chants (it wasn’t 1 or 2 people) at Elland Road. You can't , but even via their own forum, they had a "different demographic than they would have for reading away " on Sunday.
