Unacceptible "Paedo" and offensive chants / behaviour at MFC / SAFC Game

We were once goaded by a group of geordies from the City Centre up to St James's park where they were constantly calling us kiddy fiddlers. Went on for a good 10-15 mins where eventually my mate warned them if they said one more time he was gonna "take his head clean off".

Anyway, at this point the offending geordie pointed at a child who was walking past with his dad, probably about 7 year old, and started going "ooooo, I bet you'd love a go of him wouldn't ya".

It was too far. Concluded with my mate following through his threat and dropping this lad with one good solid right and got a 2 year banning order for his troubles,

It genuinely makes me sick that they get away with this crap.

Hats off to your mate , hope he didn't buy a drink for quite some time.

It does show that police are witnessing it , not bothering with the fella "inciting public disorder " .

Amazing crime prevention work continues to this day

Come off mate, it’s been nearly 40 years and it’s as bad as ever - they will never stop doing it unless action is taken. And actually it is targeted at individuals as well outside the ground. I’d just ban them from the ground an be done with it now
They would ban us from going there and it would be as sterile as the old firm games.

How did we stop racist chanting? Arrests, banning orders etc. at the moment the chanting is being condoned by way of acceptance and inaction.
I’m not sure this was really true. When it was widespread and routine, there were never any arrests or banning orders that I recollect. They became a thing after it had already become a socially unacceptable and minority activity. We need to do the latter first. We need to stop expecting “them” to do something. It’s “us” that need to do something.

And that means complaining about our chanting isn’t whataboutery in this case. If you are trying to bring about a social change, you need to be the best that you can be first. What Middlesbrough need to do is to stamp this chanting out at Middlesbrough. And the homophobia. And encourage Sunderland and the football authorities to do likewise elsewhere. But still, to lead by example, to some extent.

That’s how we got rid of racism. Because we, the majority, stopped being racist, not because they told us not to.

I wonder how Leeds fans would describe our fans given the Saville chants (it wasn’t 1 or 2 people) at Elland Road.

Honestly, probably think it's shyt , unimaginative craic .. which it is .

It's Very different to ' turkey clone island lads " surrounded by a police escort, screaming peado at parents walking with their kids pre / post match.

So be it - there is no pleasure in these games now anyway listening to that, along with 12pm Sunday kickoffs

It's always cowards behind police escorts .
It's the same with us at Leeds tbf.

Just go old school , pop them all in bloom / off the train , full escort .
No clearing the streets for them.
Anyone shouting paedo shyte gets pulled out of the escort , and survives on their own.

One day amnesty 😁

I don't think anyone is justifying or defending that.
Point is though - Sunderland 'fans' have been shouting these vile chants at us for near on 40 years, surely it's not right to just.accept it as banter.
It's disgusting and it needs stopping once and for all.
If Sunderland won't take action and ban this scum, then Boro should- and not allow any of them into our ground.

But the Jimmy Saville chants are ok? and the Adam Johnson chants are ok? Build a bonfire? Sad mackem b’stards?

Who decides the offensive line? Is it a one off or do we keep revisiting it?

Can folks on here HONESTLY say that that this call to action would have gain momentum if we had have won the game?

Us winning the game has no baring on it whatsoever - the reaction would have been the same. The responses of some idiotic Boro fans are wrong but they came about as a result of years of bating from Sunderland/newcastle/Leeds fans

Probably as the offensive chanting would have been even more insidious.

I've been kicking off about the chants for years now.

We've won every game at home against them for years before this one, I still found the chants incredibly offensive.
We beat them 1-0 in the FA Cup under Pulis and my main emotion at the end of the match was anger because I'd been stood right next to the away end and had to hear the chants for the full match.

I honestly cannot understand why anybody would try to minimise it.

43pts.. joint 9th with Sunderland.. two points off the playoffs.. talk would have been ALL about playoffs, promotion.. next game.
People can talk about more than one issue at a time. We get it, it doesn't bother you, you're happy for it to continue - fair enough.

Not everyone has this view and not everyone is happy that the people of this town are repeatedly subjected to offensive chants from the majority of a rival fan base - for decades.

I don’t think the approach is the best.. counterproductive.

Couldn't disagree more.
It's been getting ignored and passed off as 'banter' for years , and I'd say it's now as bad as ever.
Also, the fact we didn't winhas no bearing whatsoever on our fans reaction to this (imo).

Telling also that the thread on their forum about this was quickly locked and nothing else appears to be mentioned about it all , almost as if they all think it's acceptable behaviour.
Yet ,any away fans at Sunderland have the audacity to sing about Sunderland being a sh**hole and there's hell on - how dare these people have the audacity to be so disrespectful of the mighty Sunderland .

It's horrible and needs calling out- once and for all.

I think we all get that you aren’t bothered and don’t think taking action is appropriate, you really don’t have to keep repeating it!

I think action should be taken, absolutely sick of it and it was worse than ever on Sunday.
Singing it as the kids walked round with flags, I mean just why?

People have had their say, and it was clearly right to raise the issue in the first place.
Some people aren't bothered, others are. Some are prepared to be proactive, others not.
But, no one is either right or wrong.
At least we've identified possible ways forward, and Rob has already said he will be speaking to our CEO.
That's the first step.
This is the beginning where everyone begins to do what they think is needed and rid the schitt from our ground.
