Mark Drury is NOT banned from interviewing by the club

For the past few seasons on BBC Tees, Drury did the commentary and immediately after the game went down to interview Carrick and a player. Addison would read out the results and chat with Maddo for a few minutes before taking calls. Last 2 games Drury has not done interviews. I suspect the club are unhappy with his comments on the podcast about Chuba's demands and the failed bid for Giles. I asked Addison on twitter who has not replied, he is usually straight forward with his replies and a simple we just fancied seeing if a new approach worked would have answered this. Would appear to me that the club have told Drury and the station for him not to talk to players or the manager at all.

Marks fine by me , Usually live in Thailand and subscribe to Boro Live so listened to him all of last season and its always a fair assessment of the action on the screen ... less joking with maddo who is clearly interested on the match would improve the service

He is the most awful commentator known to man. He celebrates opposition goals more than Boro ones whenever i listen in. When Boro score I rely on Maddo, Drury is an arrogant numskull who thinks he is witty.and frankly is no match for whenever Rob Law has done the job

Celebrates or doesn't mind giving praise when it's due?

No I’ve regularly been going about the house listening to the commentary on a sat afternoon and heard him shout excitedly to which I’ve reacted get in and punched the air only to then hear it was a goal for qpr or reading etc.

It’s nuts not sure why he does it to be honest as I do think he’s a good commentator

When listening to Ali (the gold standard admittedly) you could tell from the tone of his voice who had scored. Not so with Mr Drury. I'm not asking him to curse like me just to make it apparent which team has scored. This is a Boro broadcast and I like a little bias. But not too much.

As muttley says they’re a fine line and he more often than not crosses it for me. Even maddo has commented on occasion whose side are you on.

He’s not on radio 5 despite what he might think

Well there was never any doubt who’d scored with Ali as he said almost invariably “into the back of the net” disappointedly when it was the opposition.

Maybe Drury just likes blue and white hoops!

NO he is not banned.

I preferred Malcolm Allison’s reaction during radio commentary, not sure it was against but they scored against us. It most have been an away match as I would have been there instead of listening. Anyway, I recall Allison saying “F***ing hell” as we conceded, there was a gap in commentary, after the brief pause, it resumed sans Allison.
I hope I’m not the only person who remembers this?
