Digital season card passes at the riverside stadium

I was expecting to go digital this season as my season card undergoes a price change to concession status from adult.
Then what do you know? A new season card arrived in the post today!
Confused dot com! All I can think is that they had already printed the new card after the early bird payment had gone through and before they released the digital information.

When it goes fully tech - as they state it will - there is no alternative offered.
If you already have a card - it renews for this season on that.
Next season - all new season ticket/card holders will be digital.
So how long before the bit of plastic becomes redundant?
Will there be two different tech readers at the turnstile?
One for the current plastic card and one for the smartphone?
 
It's disappointing that this is all happening one week before the season starts. I'm one of the ones affected with three season cards that needed replacing. So far I've had the email relating to my granddaughter's ticket only.

What makes this difficult is I'm out of the country for most games and I often don't know until matchday who will use the adult ticket. It doesn't say if all three tickets (adult and 2 kids) can be stored on more than one phone. Id stick with cards but with only a week to go I doubt they could be issued in time for Millwall.

Why could this not have been rolled out two weeks ago?

People are genuinely concerned that they are going to have to have a smart phone to get in the ground.
They are concerned that there eventually wont be any alternative, because all new season digi-ticket holders next year will have it on their mobiles [if they have one].
The club are advising people to buy a smartphone for about £35 or showing people how to set up their smartphones [if they have one].
Thats what the discussion is about.
 
I received my digital season card today and downloaded into my apple wallet OK. But my granddaughters has no download link against hers (shes in my family group), any ideas anyone or is anyone having the same problem?
 
Middlesbrough F.C don’t even bother going for EFL Fan Engagement or diversity award next season. Put your loyal customer base last.

You need to set them as a 'Strong Relationship' rather than just Friend and Family. I had the same problem with my daughters
 
What happens if you can't go and want to give your ticket to someone who isn't registered on the boro ticketing system so they could never be 'Strong Relationship's etc?
 
One potential major benefit of the digital cards is that the club will have a lot more control over people buying high demand tickets and passing them on to other people just for the priority points.
