Your Olympic Sport to Drop

I wouldn't miss football if it was dropped, but that's very unlikely given the sorts of crowds it normally attracts. If it did go I'd love to see something like 7-a-side or futsal replace it.

Football has always seemed such a fringe sport for the Olympics. Often starting before the opening ceremony.
I remember when the football started in 2012: North Korea played in one of the first matches at Hampden park. And they played the South Korean national anthem before. (Or was it the South Korean flag was flown?)
Imagine the Olympic experience: playing your first match before the games start, in a different country, and under the flag of a country you’re at war with. Makes you feel so welcome

I would cancel the breaststroke and backstroke, I watched it and it wasn't what I expected, it was just people swimming! False advertising if you ask me 🤣

Think the main reason it feels so insignificant is because nearly every other football competition is bigger. World Cup, Euros, Copa America, Champions League etc. The fact it’s only u23s as well for the men severely weakens it.

Golf. BMX, Baseball, Beach Volleyball, Football, Skateboarding.. none should be in the Olympics imo, no teamsports that's for sure.

Athletics, Swimming, Weightlifting, Gymnastics and then maybe the combat sports.

Teamsports should have no place in the Olympics imo
It would be morally wrong to drop beach volleyball

Keep the horses, in fact add more events involving them. It keeps my good lady wife enthralled and allows me to get on with stuff without interference.

The only thing I dislike with a passion is swim dancing or whatever it's called

I reckon they could simplify the whole thing.
New sports
Running - far and fast
Chucking stuff
Jumping - High and long
Cycling - single and with mate on crossbar
Fighting - thumping or kicking
Swimming - fast and far
Diving - belly flopping
British bulldog

etc

I'd vote for Tug of War to come back - the dig in,the grunt, taking the strain anddd pull!

I was in a pub team years ago - mostly for the beer to be fair, certainly more sporty than a lot of current "sports"

The next Olympics has breakdancing and I believe Cheerleading. Sports? Meanwhile poor old squash isn't an Olympic sport. I am sure there are examples that I might struggle to fit with my criteria, but my view is that for a sport to be included, an Olympic Gold should be the pinnacle of the sport. That removes Football, Tennis, Golf for a start.

It probably removes any sport where physical excellence is not the key, or its professional. You could argue that under your criteria boxing should be removed.
