Your Favourite "Regular" Restaurant Ever?

I visited a new, local tapas bar last night and it was excellent. Last night won't be my only visit and I can see myself going regularly. This got me reminiscing about my favourite ever "regular" haunt (Spiros' Restaurant in Redcar). For those who never went, it was an amazing Greek place with wonderful family service (it was ran by Spiros and his family......I believe he is a chef at Virgo's in Saltburn now) with amazing fish and meat dishes. We used to go regularly on a Saturday lunchtime.

Excluding those wonderful "one-off" places that you may have visited while travelling, where is the best restaurant you've regularly frequented?

Ippudo on Villiers Street in London. I'm a bit of a ramen fiend and the Japanese chef who came over to open the restaurant and ended up staying for 2-3 years was fantastic and, as I used to visit regularly and worked close by, I became familiar with all the staff.

Was Spiros Restaurant the one on Coatham Road many years ago? Another vote for Kaminaki, it was fantastic. At the minute our go to places are the Jolly Sailors or the Arncliffe Arms.

Kaminaki I liked , also Bahai on Linthorpe road- both regular haunts , albeit not haut cuisine

Yes we used Bahia a lot when it was in the Forbes building. Don’t know why they moved to that massive location on the corner and became a sort of Nando’s clone… didn’t last long

Central Park...yeah, I know

But it was!

I suppose if you want to stretch the definition of "restaurant" slightly, then The Lion Inn on Blakey Ridge or Mister Chips in Whitby.

Pyrgi in Linthorpe Village (where Olivello is now) was great. Fairly cheap, always rammed, fantastic atmosphere and you could spend your whole night out in there as a 1l carafe of house red or white was a couple of quid. When me and my wife were first starting out and living in the Village, we would be in there nearly every Saturday evening.

Also a shout out to joeydiaz choice of Caruso's in Stockton. Another place with great atmosphere.

The Capital in Durham. Used to be there every few weeks.

It's probably a bit confidential, but we actually took a former Prime Minister there a while back. Was also chatting to Dominic Cummings in there and went for a drink afterwards with him. Don't think he was involved in politics at the time but was certainly plotting to do so by what he was chatting about.
